"EEEEK!" Sai screamed from utter shock of having a tounge wrap around her arm. This girl just wouldn't give up, would she? "Fine, fine..." Sai said. Normally she would have resisted longer but it seemed that she wasn't going into the library without a...bath. Instead of dreading, Sai tried to think happy thoughts. It was getting her to the library, and THAT was what mattered. Still, she couldn't stop herself from hissing under her breath, due to sheer annoyance.

Somehow the battle had ended. Koakuma had lost track of everything that happened after Remilia and Marisa double-teamed the intruder but she could see that the shooting had stopped. As she had feared, hundreds of books had been destroyed including many which had been protected by enchantments. The spells weren't lost as Patchouli had the whole library in her head as well as on paper but there would be a lot of writing to do, much more than there had been after any previous incident.
The most important thing she had to do now was to ensure her mistress' safety and she flew over to the magician's bed. Patchouli seemed to have noticed that things were calm again as she was in the process of dispelling her barrier and her Magic Stones when Koakuma arrived at her bedside. When she noticed her familiar hovering nearby she gave the minor devil a melancholic look. "It's over, then?"
Koakuma nodded without saying anything.
"Marisa has left?" A nod.
"The books?"
The familiar silently closed her eyes and looked away. Patchouli sighed and got out of her bed. "Nothing we can do, I suppose..."
Her words failed as she saw the full extent of the devastation for the first time. It was far worse than anything Marisa or Reimu had ever managed to accomplish and from the way things appeared it seemed like she might never be able to replace all the volumes that had been lost in this incident.
"Koakuma..." she said, her voice a little shaky, "... I feel the need for some tea."
Koakuma nodded and flew off. Patchouli waited until her familiar was out of sight before getting back into her bed and and burying her face in her pillow...
... then, she cried.

((Asked to skip Drake again))
Akane smiled for a moment before saying, "Aww, you're no fun." And with that her tongue slid around Sailuni's ankles and brought her to the floor, Akane standing over her and pinning her down before retracting her tongue. "Teehee, but if you hate water so much... Maybe you'll prefer MY method of cleaning you up," she said before leaning down and lightly licking the catgirl's cheek.

At least it wasn't a water bath, but Sai was kind of annoyed by being pinned down by a...some kind of youkai? The maid was a youkai, all right, but Sai didn't know exactly what she was. As much as Sai hated it, she tried to keep a straight face and thought about the library. What would she find?

Koakuma soon returned with the tea but as she'd expected her mistress was grieving over her lost books. Not wishing to disturb her, the assistant librarian placed the tea set on the nearest table which was in full sight of her mistress' bed.
After that it was time to start cleaning up the library. Patchouli would surely want to start rewriting her lost books as soon as possible and she wouldn't be able to do so until all the debris had been removed. Koakuma flew over to one of the larger shelves to retrieve a book containing some of the library's regular utility spells, and with a few practiced flicks she'd found the one which would locate all the maids in the mansion.
When the spell was cast it traced an outline of the mansion's ground floor and compound onto the page, with points of violet light marking the locations of all the maids. Most of them seemed to be occupied with their duties (read: they were wasting their time) but one of them was hovering around a point of red light, the mark of a newcomer to the mansion. Koakuma had forgotten all about the visitor.
Sighing, she closed the book and replaced it in its shelf before disappearing in a puff of acrid smoke. She reappeared about halfway down the hall from where Akane was dealing with the newcomer and she flew over to them. "Akane, there was a battle in the library and things are quite... disorderly right now. Gather all the maids you can find and send them over at once."

Akane was thoroughly licking some of the blood and sweat off of Sailuni's torso at the time that Koakuma appeared. She looked to the little devil before retracting her tongue and giving a reply. "But Koakoa, this one is so dirty! Can't you tell Bitchy or one of the other maids to do the gathering," she asked, with a very childish defiance about her. Typical of one her size.

Sai sighed with relief at Koakuma's arrival. This meant freedom. She got up immediately and snuck past Akane and Koakuma. Now she was going into the library. Except...the mansion was so big. How could she tell where the library was without getting lost? For now, she stood facing several doors, not knowing where any of them led. She acknowleged that her last action might not have been the smartest.

Koakuma sighed at Akane's response. "You know I don't have the patience to deal with 'Bitchy'... and could you please stop calling her that? She has a proper name, you know, and you should use it regardless of how much she deserves your nickname. Look, now you've let our visitor get ahead of you."
The minor devil turned away from Akane before continuing. "I don't have time for this. Catch up with the visitor and take her to the library. She won't be able to get there on her own and I have a feeling that she might want to help us clean up after she sees how things are. I'll gather the maids myself."
Without waiting for Akane's reply, the assistant librarian flew a short way off and disappeared in her puff of brimstone.

"Oooookaaaay," Akane said with a sigh. She didn't like having her meal interrupted, but complaining wouldn't change a thing. Following Koakoa's orders, however, might. And so Akane slid her tongue into the air above her head, using her vomeronasal organ to locate the catgirl. And then spinning her tongue as a rotor to fly down the halls into the right direction.
----------
"Hmm... So, I guess it happened again," a boy said, staring up at the endless everything. "No... Not yet. This state is temporary, child. Remember the gift I have given you?" "Yes... And more importantly, the punishment." "Yes. But as long as you keep driving, these trials will come to an end. Remember that, child. I am on your side." "Yes. I shall remember." "Go now, child." "Yes... Go I shall."
And go he did. And though his mind may forget, his soul would remember everything.
----------
A corpse washed up onto the shore near the scarlet mansion. Its hand was holding onto the body of another creature, which was in a deep comatose state. The corpse was shrivelled, yet bloated with water and heavily wounded. It's body beared holes caused by teeth, still trickling what was now a small amount of blood.
... And as a few moments passed the moisture returned to it's eyes. Water began pouring out of it's orifices. Even the wounds, which subsequently started to close up. The corpse, once again gifted with life, struggled to it's feet. It's skin was still blue, wrinkled and cold... But it's heart once again pumped warm blood and his lungs took in a deep breath of the surface air before the boy's mouth spoke.
"Phew... Well that was unpleasant," Augen said, as he picked up the comatose youkai girl and made his way torwards the mansion again. It seemed like he had come back as soon as he had died... But he couldn't shake the feeling that he was forgetting something.

Sai was about to enter a door when suddenly she was grabbed by Akane's tongue and...dragged back. "Not this again..." she said. In reality, she was almost completely clean, but that didn't matter to her. She just wanted to get this bath OVERWITH so she could go to the library.

One benefit that Koakuma got from her status as a familiar was the ability to be anywhere her mistress needed her to be within the walls of the mansion. Patchouli had been kind enough to expand that part of her contract to the point where she could be anywhere in the mansion that she needed to be and it was this ability that allowed her to round up fifteen maids in less than ten minutes. After instructing the last one she returned to the library to await their arrival.

After checking every nook and cranny for uncleanliness, Akane made her way torwards the library, her tongue still wrapped around a specific catgirl... Only this time instead of pinning her down, Akane was carrying Sailuni above her head. ... It wasn't long before she arrived at the library. And when she did, it seemed a lot of the other maids had as well. What's more, the library was a wreck... Books torn. Cases bursted. Ashes everywhere. "... Wub appen eere," was all Akane could say as she gazed out at the graveyard of spellbooks that lay for all to see. ---------- After retrieving the youkai girl Augen had just rescued from those vicious beasts, he made his way towards the mansion gates. "Sorry can't talk now," he said quickly to the gatekeeper as he vaulted over the gate, carrying Kylie on his back. Now all he needed to do was retrieve his equipment from the cat. After all, his methods of persuasion were in there.

Okay, this was weird...Sai was being carried by the youkai maid. Where was this girl even taking her? She gasped in delight when she saw she was at the library. It was wrecked. "Um..." Sai said. "Could you, like, let me go so I can speak with this Patchouli person?" She tried to wriggle away. There must've been some big battle here, but she had nothing to do with it. If anyone asked her, she was lost when it had happened. Well, part of the time. The other part was being pinned down by the maid.

Koakuma had been sweeping half-burnt pages into the huge rubbish pile in the center of the library when she heard Akane's and the visitor's questions. After having one of the maids take over from her she flew up to the two newcomers. She addressed the Nekomata first.
"I apologize for your having to see the library like this. There was an... incident this morning, the most severe one to date, and I was not able to arrange a cleanup until a short while ago. As for Lady Knowledge... she will not be able to see you at this time. The books in the library are like her friends and family so as you can imagine she was pretty overwhelmed by all this. Perhaps you should wait until after everything is in order. I will fetch some tea and biscuits for you if you wish."
Then she turned to Akane. "What happened? Marisa 'happened', as usual. This time she got her hands on one of the forbidden tomes and she created a more powerful duplicate of herself. We barely managed to drive her off."
----
Meiling was well aware of the young man walking right past her but she hadn't even responded to his presence, although she doubted that he'd noticed that. Such flippancy seemed to be prevalent among the Mansion's visitors and the gatekeeper longed for the days when formal greetings and duels were the standard practice.
She crouched and shot off the ground into a long, arcing back-flip that took her over the intruder and his living cargo despite the distance between them. As she passed over the intruder's head she launched a shower of rainbow shards down towards him before landing some distance ahead. Finally she straightened and faced the intruder with her arms defiantly folded. "What, no greeting for the gate guard? People really are forgetting their manners nowadays."

Akane's tongue unravelled around the cat, dropping her from several feet above the ground. "Oh, sowwy bou dat," she said, before retracting her tongue. "But, you may want to wait. Patches is probably pretty upset right now." With that she continued to scan her view. So much... Soot...
----------
Augen looked up torwards the falling rain of rainbow shards. "Caution Sign... Ruyijing Bang," he muttered, twirling a staff above his head to defend from the oncoming bullets. After the bullets finished falling, he turned to face the gatekeeper. "Oh... How rude of me. I just didn't want to keep the librarian waiting. The batgirl, if you recall, invited my group in earlier. But only one of us made it in at the time, and she has some of my possessions. So I would suggest that you let us through, lest I need to introduce myself," he finished, with a grin.
