What was clear to everyone: The loud noise got louder when the door opened, and soon after climaxed in a loud explosion. And no, that was not Yuugen's stomach.

Yuugenmagan's point of view:

The mess hall was...empty, really.* A large amount of tables and chairs...and a rug**...occupied the area. Having the sight capability of Yuugen meant that she could tell that there really was something off with that rug, but the question was what?

...Well the question now is who just walked through that other door? That, is the real question. (That person would be Tanis)

Everyone Else's Point Of View:

The shopkeepers were wondering why they weren't coming in, but managed to not bug them about it.

And nothing else, really.

*(The grunts had escaped though secret passageways, which is why there isn't any at the moment. Time-Stopping maids are scary.)
**(Who's fashion sense has a RUG in the mess hall? Really. It even LOOKED bland.)

after useing echo location to check out the room tanis desided he was ready to move on
he walked into the room with his sword ready in one hand only to find what he thought was a group of enemies was really just more people here to take on kaosu's challange
....but just in case he was ready and didn't exactly made him self known

[Schala]

Schala turned to see another figure.
"Come on Shiro," she said, dragging him away.
"Hello?" she said. "My name is Schala. I wish to speak with Kaosu. I am a prophetess."
She wasn't sure if this was a guard or someone else. However, Schala decided to make her intentions clear.
"I am not here to raid this place."

[Augen]

Yuugen didn't pay much attention to the fact that somebody else had just entered the castle. She was much too preoccupied with the fact that she was hungry... So she walked into the mess hall and closed the door behind her. "... Hello," she said before her stomache growled again. "... Is there anybody in here?"
Not waiting for an answer, she looked down at the rug. "Hmm... DIE," she exclaimed, impulsively shooting eye-lasers at the rug in an attempt to burn it to death.

[Five-minute Cat Nap]

Shiro followed behind the two women, allowing them to enter the room first. Catching sight of Yuugen's crazy laser beams, Shiro made a quick note not to anger her... too badly at least. "I hope we didn't make any enemies right off the bat... that'd be bad for us.." Shiro murmured, slipping into a serious mood for a second, then returning to silliness. "Woahhh! That was cool!" Shiro exclaimed, pointing towards Yuugen. "So.. anything cool in here?" Shiro queried.

Location: Mess Hall

Well there was something cool next door...was being the keyword here, as Tanis had beat up the interesting thing and swiped the key. He should use it on the door that was locked before going off-task.

Yuugen frying the rug...well, the rug seemed to have a negative resistance to magic, and quickly evaporated. And under it...hey, a trap door~! I mean, who would have put that there anyway? It was a horrible rug. It had to have been hiding something for certain, for certain, and Yuugen...well, it made her eyes bleed*. She didn't have much of a reason to burn the rug other than that...which was taken into account during the unseen credit bonus for uncovering the room. And how they knew that can forever remain a mystery. Remember where you are. Even the 4th wall was frail here.

Speaking of which, said 4th wall seemed to be non-existent down there, and it also radiated with a weird, yet almost insanely powerful aura that could probably be mistaken for anything that had one. Yet still, it was...different. Speaking of which, how did that cheap rug COVER that aura from before?** It was a mystery, all of it. This entire castle was odd. This was obviously for no good reason. Honestly.

For this castle, it was weird that no one wrote anything on the trapdoor. In any case, it's either in there, back to the main hall (or in Tanis's case, TO the main hall), or in the Boss Room that Tanis just came out of...and had already beat up the people inside.

*(Figuratively, dood.)
**(The answer is obviously 'no idea'.)

tanis smiled....even though he didn't like people after his last fight he knew he wasn't going to get lucky on his own again...more people more cannon fodder

"Hello Tanis," Schala replied. Just then, she noticed the trap door.
"The key must be down here!" she cried. "I can sense we will find it soon!" She opened the trap door to reveal a staircase.
Being the courageous girl she was, Schala ran down the first few steps. "Come on!" she said, beckoning all.

[Augen]

Suddenly, Yuugenmagan flew headfirst down the staircase at a shocking speed, passing Schala and readying her abyssal eyes to attack anything she saw. Her face had a vicious hunger upon it, and as she flew down the growling noise dragged on until she hit the bottom, looking around at what was in the basement before bearing her fangs and uttering the words, "Somebody... Feed me."

[Five-minute Cat Nap]

Shiro walked down after Schala, and opened his eyes wide when Yuugen flew past. "Woah! That's cool!" Shiro exclaimed, continuing to walk down. Hearing Yuugen's statement, Shiro felt his fur go up on end. Turning around, he began to walk back up, before stopping. "Eh.. demons would try and take out someone like me if I were alone wouldn't they?" Shiro muttered, before heading back after Schala and Yuugen.

Tanis's Point Of View:

Well, everyone seemed to be heading down the stairs, and he didn't seem to mention the key in time for her to follow him about it. Follow? Y/N

(Y means yes and do stuff, N means no and you'll probably be moved into another thread. It might be worth your while to go down there though...maybe.)

Everyone Else's Point Of View

And down the stairs they went. There wasn't much stairs though, and they all eventually got to the secret room.

Which was rather odd looking.

Straight ahead from the steps (incidentally, the steps seemed to widen on the way down, which looked nice) was a large (50 ft diameter circular room that had a floor that was simply a shiny black color, but felt...odd when you stepped on it. Secure, yet it could change at any moment. Speaking of shiny, the only light source besides the one from the probably unclosed trapdoor (where are your manners people) was coming from a giant floating mirror in the middle of the room that seemed to glow, mostly in the middle where the actual mirror was, and of course was obviously facing them, and was actually floating just above a 1 foot tall stone platform.

Unlike a normal mirror, however, this one showed no reflection of yourself. It instead showed a reflection that was completely incomprehensible. Colorful, but with an incomprehensible true form.

And then the mirror actually spoke to them with telepathy (anyone that's downstairs at the time of activation will hear all of it, once one of them got on the earlier said stone platform (obviously to examine this mirror). The voice of it was a mix of calm and angelic.

"So you've all managed to find the summoning chamber. This is the place where you can summon certain beings from other worlds. You might be able to befriend some*, but most will probably fight you. You can befriend someone after fighting them as well, and that's generally easier to do. When you have taken care of the summon through defeat, friendship, or friendship by defeat, anyone participating will receive a credit bonus and possibly a few other trinkets to make it more realistic to actually challenge the God of Chaos. To summon anything however, you'll have to use some credits. And before you ask, Credits are the currency the castle uses, usually earned by doing notable things in it...such as being the one to reveal the summoning chamber, or being a group that defeats a boss. Also take note that you can't simply summon anything you want, I will be choosing what is possible to summon**. Also take note that in some battles, the room itself will change. And lastly, if one of you does not have enough credits to summon something, note you can all combine your own credits to summon it instead. Now, make use of the room and actually summon something. I feel like I'm getting dull at the art. I need practice. To do anything, you should step on the stone platform."

And with that, the voice stopped.

Anyone on the platforms would get some sort of menu selection inside their minds. It would read like this:

Summon the Lunatic, Kyoujin! - 100 Summon an Overlord, Gihen! - 2000 Summon Future Phantasm Akkei! - 5000 ????????

And ???????? it was the rest of the way down. On the bottom, it listed everyone's credit totals that happened to be on the platform.

For Schala, it totaled about 100 (being the first invited one in that particular group was the only thing on her list).
For Shiro, it totaled 50 (not being the first one invited in that particular group but still invited was the only thing on his list).
For YuugenMagan, it totaled 250 (not being the first one invited but still invited and opening the passageway to this very room).
And if Tanis came down here and stepped on the platform, his credits would be 1500 (for thrashing the 1st Stage Boss (1000) and doing it by himself (500 Bonus) as well.)

What to do, what to do?

*(They'll act as an NPC for a while if you befriend them. If certain conditions are met, they'll actually decide to stay, in which case I'll have another character to add to my H3UG list.)
**(As a person beyond the reaches of the mirror's influence (I'm directly talking to you at the moment, dood), you can always request summonables. I can always reject ideas I don't really care for though.)

why not...strength in numbers

after listening to the mirrors little speech tanis decided to see what the others did
but after a moment or two tanis remembered something he had heard of when he was a child
he echoed his voice so only the mirror would hear
"who carries the sorcerers ring?"

[Schala]

Schala didn't want to summon anything. She just wanted to speak to Kaosu.
"Excuse me," she said to the mirror, "I just want to speak with Kaosu. Do you know where the key is?"
Unless summoning someone or ???????? was the key, she didn't want to have to fight anyone. She just wanted to know what was going on.

[Augen]

"Gah!" When Yuugenmagan noticed the bright light her pupils shrunk down and she tried to shield her eyes with her sleeve. After a short moment of adjusting to the light, she tried to look at the mirror without getting too much light in her eyes.

"Um, question," Yuugenmagan said, timidly raising her hand while still protecting her eyes with the other. "If... If we battle and defeat one of these summons, but we aren't able to befriend them, are we allowed to eat them?" Yuugen's stomache growled a little and she fell to her knees after she asked the question, rubbing her eyes a bit as they were quite sore.

Shiro looked around, this room was cool! The mirror was awesome, but nobody seemed to be doing anything interesting but Yuugen. "Well, somewhat wierd eye lady doesn't seem too bad.." Shiro muttered, before heading up to Yuugen. "Want this cookie? While the stomach growling is cool, we don't want the castle to drop on us!" Shiro chirped, holding out a cookie covered with a light veneer of powdered sugar.
