"My... Friend...?" Kylie repeated back, sounding unsure, slightly confused, but not unhappy. A friend... She'd been so lonely for so very long... And now she had a friend... She supposed three friends, if you counted Haku and Augen, who she'd met in the Forest of Magic. She suddenly felt happier than she had since before that man came and destroyed everything for her...
Then he was offering her... A pendent? He explained that it used to be his mother's good luck charm. Kylie's eyes widened. Something so valuable, for her...? She couldn't believe it... Kylie reached toward it hesitantly, slowly... Then she stopped, and drew her hand back. She shook her head slowly.
"Are... Are you sure?" Kylie asked, and looked up at him again. "I mean, it must be so important to you, are you sure you want to give it to someone you just met...?" It wasn't that she didn't want it. In fact, she was touched that he'd give it to her, but... She didn't understand. She didn't know him very well yet, and he didn't really know her... They'd just met. So why...?

Kelland looked back at Kylie. She was obviously surprised that he was being friendly toward her. The poor girl was probably so lonely that she hadn't had a real friend for years.
As to the pendant...
"You need it more than I do," Kelland said again. "My life so far has been fine while you...poor thing, I don't want you to think that life is hopeless. We will break your curse. Together."
He held out his hand to her.
"So which way? You lead."

Kylie couldn't believe it... She finally had a friend... "Thank you... Thank you so much Kelland..." Kylie said, her voice breaking... She felt warm water on her face. No.. Tears. Tears were falling down her face, she was crying. Kylie wiped them away, and looked at one that had stayed on her finger. She stared at it, amazed.
How long had it been since she had actually cried? Had it been when her home first burned down? Had she cried even then? She couldn't remember... And these weren't even tears of sadness. They were tears of joy, of happiness. She was so glad that her loneliness could be over...
Kylie said softly, as she accepted the pendant from him and put it around her neck, "I will always treasure it... A gift from my first friend for two-hundred years... Thank you..." She only whispered the last part. Then, she said, "I honestly have no idea where to go... I have no leads on where the person who did this to me could possibly be..."

If Kelland remembered right, Kylie had acted suspicious when Kelland mentioned the Forest of Magic.
"Kylie," he said, "you seemed to be suspicious of the Forest of Magic. Perhaps we could go there and find something out?"
Perhaps, he thought, that's where the evil man might be. But he was a little fearful of going just with Kylie. They needed allies if they were going on a quest.
"Well," said Kelland, "I think that if we're going in there, we should team up with other people. It might be more dangerous if it were just the two of us. We should go to the Human Village and see if anyone knows anything, or could accompany us into the forest."

The Forest of Magic? Well... She supposed that was as good a place as any. Though she really didn't want to end up burning the whole place down... Kylie said, "I suppose... Since I found that crater there, it's possible that he may be somewhere nearby..." She shook her head, "But it's really barely any lead at all, if it was someone else cursed like me that caused it, they could easily have ended up there from all the way on the other side of Gensokyo..."
Then Kelland mentioned going to the human village, and her eyes widened. "No... No, if I go there and something happens, so many people could get hurt or even killed if I explode!" She shook her head, "I don't think it would be a good idea..." But she did realize that it probably would be the easiest way to try and get information... But she was kind of scared of what would happen if she went down there and exploded.
Kylie had gotten the curse because she refused to destroy the Human Village... If she went down there and accidentally destroyed it anyway... Besides that so many people would have died because of her, everything would have been utterly pointless. And she couldn't take that... She just couldn't.

"I understand," Kelland replied. "In that case, we will go together into the forest."
He was a little scared to go there without asking for information first, but if Kylie was so worried...
Yes. Kelland had decided that he would protect her at all costs, and he didn't want to scare her.
"Come on," Kelland said. "We need to go. If we are to break your curse, then we should get right on it. I promise I will not let you down."
Kelland meant what he said. He wanted to help her, and he was not going to let something bad happen. Even if he got scared, he would stay by her until the curse was lifted.
