Shara hadn't expected the flames to burn this well! She wasn't trying to incinerate the boy really, just stop him from attacking Brian... Who was still consumed by unnatural fear and pretty much useless for now. Shara had no idea what to do now as the boy rolled on the floor trying futilely to put the flames out. She had no water magic, nor any other kind of magic or any way to put out that fire... Except... Maybe...
Shara wasn't sure about this, but it was the best idea she had. Maybe a very light wave of pure force... She'd never tried to do it lightly enough to really avoid breaking bones before, but there was a first time for everything... She quickly ran over to the burning cat-eared boy and tried her best to do a very light wave of force on the boy and smother the flames.
As inexperienced as she was with this method of using it, she wasn't able to reduce the force enough that it wouldn't cause... Heavy... Bruising, but it probably wouldn't break any bones and it did keep the flames from getting any air for a moment... But would that be enough?

What was the new person doing to this kid? "STOP!" Saeryin cried. "He's only--" Hold on. Did it really matter? He was the enemy, no matter what his age was. Really, the only thing she was concerned about was that there was no more fighting, that way she could get on with her quest. Speaking of that, where were all the jewels? Where? She decided she would ask. "Hey," she said to the girl. "Know where the jewels are?"

Well... that fight hadn't gone as the Grimoire had expected. Burned, then smothered the still-smoking youth lay curled in the fetal position trembling and crying after it was all over. The book was clutched close to his chest and showed the same signs of burning as he did.
He opened his eyes but everything was blurry with tears of fear and frustration. He had tried his best, but the swiftness and harshness of his defeat had shocked him to the core.
"I... I... lost..." his feeble words, barely audible, were both an admission to himself and to the world at large. He had, indeed, been defeated soundly.

The flames did indeed go out, but the boy curled up and appeared to have stopped fighting. Being right next to him, she heard him when he faintly said, "I... I... lost..." Shara looked down to him, and said slightly angrily, "Yes, you did! Now, would you mind telling me why you were attacking Brian?! He certainly wouldn't have challenged you!"
She then growled, "And if your explanation isn't good enough, the next wave of force you feel will break some bones!" Shara honestly... Well, she felt like she had to protect Brian. He was a powerful mage, but he was extremely fragile, and she knew he sometimes just couldn't fight.
Shara knew there wasn't much she could do while Brian was in this state, only time could cure it, so she thought it was much more important to make sure that this boy with the cat-ears didn't try anything else. She barely paid any attention to the other girl, though she'd notice if she actually did try anything. She'd tried to tell Shara to stop attacking the boy earlier, and though she hadn't finished, that still made her slightly suspicious...

Wow. The kid was burned pretty badly. And upon that sight, a wave of empathy washed over Saeryin. She stood next to the new girl. "Why...why did you do that?" she asked. Then the girl asked why the boy had attacked a certain "Brian." Brian must be the scardey-cat, Saeryin decided, as the girl said he wouldnt've challanged the kid. "I'm Saeryin," Saeryin said. "Now would you care to explain what exactly is going on here?"

Slowly, slowly, the Grimoire managed to pick himself up to a crumpled kneeling position. Both his arms were wrapped protectively around the book and tears were still streaming slowly from his eyes. He sniffled a few times, trying to get his voice together. As the loser he knew he was at the mercy of his captors... especially the girl who caught him on fire.
"I... *sniff*... I have to fight other youkai and get energy so *sniff* so I can take it back to my friends and give it to them *sniff* and then *sniff* and then we'll all be able to have bodies and leave the tower..."
Finally, after a few more seconds of sniveling he manages to get his act together and his voice gets more steady, though there is still a deep hint of fear in it.
"I heard there was powerful youkai here, so I came to fight. I didn't know who was a powerful youkai or not so I was just gonna fight with everyone and take the energy of whoever I beat. It's better to fight people you don't know than people you do know, right?"
The Grimoire rubbed a hand across his eyes, which were very red now, and then glared sullenly up at his vanquishers. He knew they now had the right to do whatever they wanted with him, but he thought it was unfair that one of his first fights should go so badly. And they were all angry at him as if youkai fighting was some weird thing that never happened.

Shara looked at the girl as if she was insane. "Why did I throw the fire at him?! He was attacking my friend, was I supposed to just let him do that?! I don't care how young he is..." She shook her head, "As far as that wave of force just now, I was trying to put out the fire..."
Shara then listened to the boy's explanation. She wasn't entirely sure when she first facepalmed, but her hand was firmly attached to her face by the time he stopped talking. When he was done, she shook her head, and by some phenomenal effort, removed her hand from in front of her face.
"Alright..." She said, "So from what I understood of that conversation... You're an idiot. So basically, you went around randomly attacking people?! Do you have any idea how stupid that is?! I have no idea what youkai are, or what the hell you were talking about you and your friends getting bodies, but... Gah!"
This was ridiculous. Of course, she should have expected insanity when she came to this new world, but still... She decided not to do anything else to the boy, though she didn't understand the situation. She said to the boy, "You know what, I'm not going to hurt you any more as long as you don't attack either of us again. Would you at least tell us where we are though?"

The kid seemed to be all right. Okay, it probably didn't matter how young he was anyway. And yes, it was foolish to randomly attack people in way that could hurt them. Throwing food at someone was fine, but beams of darkness? She was still injured from that blast. "Ooooh..." she said, clutching her hurt side. The girl had just asked where they were. "I can answer that," Saeryin said. "This is Gensokyo."

"For a youkai... is there anything else in this life but fighting other youkai to become stronger or obtain your goals?" the Grimoire stood now, if a little shakily. "You're the one who doesn't make any sense. How would anyone get more power without fighting other people? I don't even understand what you're saying. But you defeated me, and now you're saying I can go, so I will. But I'll keep fighting, and maybe someday I'll meet and fight you again. That's the way the world is... That's all life is."
With these odd words, portraying the Grimoire's juvenile and skewed image of the world, the boy jumped backward just in case anyone tried to keep him from getting away. He then promptly turned tail and retreated back the way he had came.

Shara still had no idea what that kid was talking about, but decided that it wasn't worth trying to follow him, no matter how misguided he was. Not right now... She might give him a bit more to think about if they met again and he was still being stupid, but she wouldn't do anything right now.
The other girl seemed to be in pain however, "Are you alright?" she asked, concerned. Well, apparently she was alright enough to answer the question Shara had asked... "So, this place is called Gensokyo then huh? Hm. Anyway... If you're alright, could you lead us out of here?"
Shara then went over to Brian, and knelt down next to her shaking friend, "Brian? Are you alright?" Brian manage to stutter out, "Sh-Shara...? Y-yeah... Just... Scared..." Shara shook her head, and said, "It's alright. I'm not letting anything happen to you..." She helped him up, since he was still shaking too badly to get up himself.
Shara then looked over at Saeryin, remembering why they'd come here in the first place. "By the way, have you seen our friends? One is an extremely tall man with brown hair, has green eyes... Usually. The other one... Well, she has white wings, I doubt you could not know who she was. We came here looking for them, but we have no idea where they are."

Saeryin was really just there for the jewels, so she didn't have any intention of leaving, but she supposed, if it was THAT important. Scardey-cat Brian had just called the other girl "Sh-shara." Saeryin assumed that he was stuttering the name "Shara" due to the fact that he was shaking. And what was it Shara was asking? Tall brown-haired boy? Winged girl? "I haven't seen either of them," Saeryin replied. "But I'll try to find you the way out." And if she found something better once she was out...well, she was going to go for it.
