Mokuko grinned as broadly as his face would allow. Being praised felt good and he thought that perhaps he should spend more time helping people instead of just wandering around. "No problem. I was looking for something to do when I met you and you've given me lots of fun new things to do."
Then an idea came to him. "Say, you're not alone 'cause you've got me, but you don't have any vampire friends yet, do you? The pair up at the Scarlet Devil Mansion are pretty well known around here, so why don't you go and introduce yourself to them sometime?"

tal stopped and shook his head
"vampires....turned me into this monster...i dont want anything to do with them"
he dropped the log at the mouth of the cave and turned to the puppet
"your a good friend...the only one i have at the moment... but i want nothing to do with 'them' "
he put his hand on his neck over the bite marks
"but i'll have to give the mansion a visit"

Mokuko hadn't noticed the bite marks earlier and they made him curious. As far as he knew even the most terrible wounds vampires got should disappear quickly. He'd even seen the mistress of the Scarlet Devil Mansion grow a new arm once. Most Youkai could also heal their wounds without a trace so it was strange that Tal still had the marks. He went up to have a closer look. "Don't they ever go away?"

he began pushing the log into the cave again
"the only wound i have that will never heal"
when the log was finaly in the cave tal took the axe and began to slpit it in half

The mark of a curse... so a vampire bite didn't just turn a human into a vampire- it cursed the human as well. That was something new again. Mokuko wondered what kind of curse it was and what it did, but then he realized that a human might consider vampirism itself a curse. Humans were terribly afraid of becoming anything else even if it was stronger. He remembered that there was a human working in the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Had she been bitten and cursed too? Perhaps he would ask her if he ever got a chance to meet her and if he remembered the question at the time.

after splitting the log in half he hut another section on off one side to make a table he took the other side of the log and cut a curve into it so he would have a bed "thank you again for the help" END |

Mokuko smiled. "Thanks for the thanks but like I said before, you've given me a good way to spend my day. I should be thanking you instead." He began to think that the cave was getting brighter, so he left Tal for a while and went to the entrance.
Outside, the sun was rising. Having never slept in his life, Mokuko had been through so many sunrises that he was becoming able to 'sense' when one happened even if he was indoors without a window. That Tal had been able to work through the night was quite astonishing, but the puppet knew that his friend would have to turn on his anti magic at some time or another now that the sun was up. Perhaps it was time to leave.
Before that, though, he had one more favor to offer Tal. He went back inside. "Say... it's morning already and I guess you'll be needing something to eat soon. Want me to bring you something?"
