Honoo did not know what 'free' meant. She was smart enough to know that the rooms weren't the type of free that she knew (the rooms would not stay where they were if they were truly free*), so she had no idea what Kinu was talking about.
"What's 'free'?"
It was a shame that Seiun was asleep, but she certainly needed it.
*(At least she didn't assume that WAS what she meant.)

Kai smiled. "'Free' as in you don't have to pay any money to stay in them," she said slowly. She took a brush from the bedside table [not knowing where it came from] and ran it through her white hair. She sat smiling and waiting for a response.

Honoo also didn't know what 'money' was. Of course...
"What's money?"
She knew people killed people over it, and yet she never bothered to ask what it was. How foolish of her. Perhaps now she'll get to know why?
"Actually, I've been wanting to know that for a while. I never really got a chance to ask that one. Hm."
As Honoo got more interested, the room got warmer. Due to the fact that she never let go of the newspaper, it...well, lit on fire where her hand was. That's losing focus for you. Due to the part on her hand going away, it fell to the ground. Honoo was completely oblivious to it all.
*(AKA, Hell...Dood.)

"Ack!" Kinu grabbed her water, pouring it on the firey newspaper. Once the fire had gone out. she turned back to the fae.
"Money is something you use to pay for something you want, instead of stealing it," she said politely. She noticed that it was getting warmer in the room, and put her hair back up in a ponytail.

As Honoo did not notice the fire, she was wondering why she seemed surprised, only to be answered by a sudden appearance of water. She had a small phobia of water, and seeing it some at her direction surprised her as well. But then she looked at the burnt and wet newspaper.
"Ahh--oh. Whoops."
She then continued to listen to Kinu. So THAT'S what money was...some people say pay with your blood, pay with something else...so that's what money is used for. Interesting....
"Oh, I see."
...1000 yen she doesn't remember the original topic unless you remind her.* In any case, she didn't seem phased at the hunk of wet and burned newspaper on the ground. It's a good thing Kinu had water handy.
*(The mind of a fairy can be compared to one of a goldfish, dood.)

Kai sighed quietly, then spoke, trying to explain to the fairy. "You can go downstairs and rent, which means borrow, a room for the night without having to pay any money, okay?" Trying to be polite with a fairy was a hard thing indeed.

Horray, she finally got the concept of inns! Surely, if most other faeries weren't paranoid of her*, she would show this off to them. But, that wasn't the case. Ho hum.

Wait, why was she here again? Honoo tried to remember, but could not recall it. Go figure.

OH YEAH, that's right! In any case, why she was here seemed to be finished. But, what to do now...
Being a fairy, she had to ponder this. Pondering takes time. Lots and lots of time.
Maybe she should have planned this out more...maybe ask another question for the smart lady...hmmm....

And ponder she did.

Now that she introduced herself, Honoo could not remember if she did or not. Eh, might as well do it again~
"And my name is Honoo~ I would shake your hand, but that probably wouldn't end well."
Which, was true.*

That means she will probably only turn to her for questions. Such a literal fairy.
....But she couldn't think of anymore questions. Why? Why.....**

Bah. It seems that she couldn't think of anything to ask her. That sucked. Might as well say it (with a sigh).
"I was trying to think of a question, but I couldn't think of any...no, wait a second."
Of course! Why didn't she think of it before!* If they are trying to unseal a demon, perhaps they could also unseal her OWN power?** It was worth a shot. She might as well ask. If she said no, she would stalk them anyway.
