"A very Youkai-like Youkai."
Yukari is extremely lazy and comes across as being quite lethargic when she's not messing around with someone. Naturally she spends most of the day in bed, only emerging for meals or to right some great wrong in Gensokyo (read: when she feels bored). When she isn't half-asleep she proves to be an engaging conversationalist, although she can be flaky at times. She treats her shikigami and the people of Mayohiga with a modicum of respect but is not above taking advantage of them if she needs to. After all, she put them where they are solely for her use.
When she has a goal in mind she can formulate plans with alarming speed and clarity, although her schemes tend to have at least one glaring loophole due to her overconfidence. She's good at adapting and working on the fly, however, and can easily manipulate her way around anyone who does manage to corner her, whether through her powers or through the sharpness of her wit.
She is renown for her knowledge of the outside world, which is more extensive than that of any other being in Gensokyo save perhaps the Lunarians or those who originated beyond the border.

"The manipulation of boundaries"
Yukari can manipulate any and all boundaries, both physical and metaphysical. The applications of this power are almost limitless, theoretically making her omnipotent. However, boundaries affecting fundamental principles of the universe or beings more powerful than herself require much more power to manipulate- more power, perhaps, than she has at any one time. What is known is that by manipulating the correct boundaries she can affect the minds and bodies of other beings as well as the entirety of Gensokyo itself at will.
It must be noted that she seldom if ever uses this power. It is not known if she is simply too lazy to manipulate borders more often or if she has difficulty doing so. She simply does not do it.
Notable past uses of this power include the very creation of Gensokyo and the transporting of an army of Youkai to the moon.
"Gaps"
Yukari's most iconic power, however, is the creation and control of gaps. At their most basic a gap is simply a small disruption in the boundary between "here" and "there", bypassing all physical distance between the two locations. To the naked eye a gap appears to be a "wound" opening into a different dimension, bound at the corners by a pair of ribbons which are a purely cosmetic element. Yukari can create as many gaps of whatever size she wishes for instantaneous transport of beings, objects and even entire locations, or she can simply use the gaps as a method of observation. A being caught in a closing gap would be literally divided between two locations, with unpleasant consequences.
A one-way gap can also be created, which opens into an alternate dimension instead of a point in the real world. This dimension is sometimes known as the "gap dimension" among humans, although Yukari herself does not use the term. To mortal perception it appears to be an empty space filled with eyes against a background of shifting color. Yukari is capable of storing any number of objects of any size in this dimension and she herself can reside there for an indefinite period of time, safe from virtually all attack. It is claimed by some that she can draw impossible creatures and devices from this dimension but she has never done so as far as anyone can remember.
Yukari's use of gaps is so well known that she has come to be called the "Gap Youkai" or "Sukima" (meaning "gap") by both humans and Youkai alike.
"Master of Shikigami"
Yukari is the mistress of Ran Yakumo, a kitsune whom she has subdued and made her shikigami. Ran is absolutely loyal to Yukari and obeys her every command.
Fighting style:
Yukari tends to fight tactically, using her gaps to mess with her opponents and to redirect their attacks. Sometimes she may transport creatures or devices from elsewhere (including the outside world) to frustrate and injure her opponents. Less often, she may simply replace herself with one or both of her shikigami and have them fight for her. She can also fight together with her shikigami, although this reduces her own power noticeably.
When driven into a corner, however, she can unleash incredible barrages of danmaku. She has a large variety of complex spell cards, which she supplements with her gap manipulation and her shikigami.
While it is not evident, Yukari actually has great strength and speed although she has little aptitude in hand-to-hand combat. Her shikigami handle that for her.
She never uses her boundary manipulation in combat, even if she would otherwise be forced to fight hand-to-hand. She will flee through a gap the moment she reaches such a point in battle.
