Please read this before asking any questions.
About Touhou
Q: What is Touhou?
A: Touhou is a series of vertical scrolling, danmaku shooters created by ZUN. They are famous for two things: cute girls and bullet hell.
Q: Who is ZUN?
A: ZUN is the creator of Touhou. He is the one who started Team Shanghai Alice, and currently he is the only member of that team. As of now he creates every Touhou game in the main series by himself. There are two fighting game spin offs (Immaterial and Missing power and Scarlet Weather Rhapsody) that he worked on, but they were mostly made by another company.
Q: Why does a shooting game have so many characters?
A: That's part of the reason Touhou is so popular. Not only do they have lots of characters, but they have a lot of interesting characters. As to why, I don't know, but I'm glad they do.
Q: Are the games hard?
A: Yes, very, but they are a lot of fun.
Q: Where can I get them?
A: www.paletweb.com/ or similar websites. This is assuming you want to get them legally. Or you can download the demos from ZUN's website. There are "other" ways, but I will not be discussing them.
Q: Wait, they're in Japanese? How will I understand them?
A: Some games have English patches, some don't. You can get game scripts for the ones that don't in the Touhou Wiki.
About the Site
Q: Why did you pick Touhou to make an RP about?
A: Because I'm obsessed.
Q: Do I need to know anything about Touhou to play?
A: No. I expect that most people that join will not know what Touhou is, so I tried to explain everything in detail. Touhou is a shooting game anyway, so it's not like there's as much depth as an RPG or something.
Q: Why Illusionary Village Gensokyo?
A: I called it that for two reasons: First, Gensokyo is the name of the world Touhou takes place in. Second, Gensokyo translates into Illusion Village or Fantasy Village. I decided Illusion Village sounded better, and then changed that into Illusionary Village so it didn't sound weird.
Q: How did you do -insert code here-
A: Check Proboards Support's code index. With the exception of the month and weather codes, which I wrote myself, everything else came from there.
Q: You wrote the month code yourself? Cool, can I use it?
A: I guess? Just don't steal my images.
Q: Will you write codes for me?
A: No. I actually do not know that much JavaScript and was only able to write my codes through pure luck.
Q: Did you make the skin?
A: Yep. All the images are by me, though I did use fanart images to make a lot of my graphics. Obviously the original images belong to the creators.
Q: Will you make a skin for me?
A: No. I normally spend about six hours making a skin, and that's simply too much effort to put into everyone's forums. However, I might be willing to make a banner for you or something. Just don't request stuff from me too frequently.
About the RP
Q: Can people cross the boundry?
A: Not really. There are some cases of humans coming to Gensokyo from the other side, so it's obviously possible, but it doesn't happen frequently. As of now I don't even have boards for the outside world, so there's no real reason to cross it anyway. Though, if enough people wanted me to I could add them.
Q: What is a boundry anyway?
A: A boundry is something that seperates one thing from another. For example, the boundry of life and death seperates life and death. The surface of a lake is a boundry as well. It seperates the lake from everything else. Boundries exist everywhere.
Q: I don't really get the spell card rules.
A: Yeah, that's why I said to basically ignore it and/or only use it for organized duels. I'll say it again: if you are not familiar with Touhou don't worry about the spell card rule too much.
Q: Why did you even add it if you weren't going to use it?
A: To make it more Touhouish for the Touhou fans.
