Personality: Akane could be best described as "mannerless". She isn't quite aware of this, however, and if somebody points out her unladylike behavior she will try to correct herself. This usually doesn't last long, however. Still, despite her rude behavior at times she tries to be courteous to strangers, even if they don't take well to her bad breath.
One of her least likeable personality traits is that when she encounters somebody who she thinks is too clean, she'll pick a fight with them just so that she can clean them off afterwards... Yeah, that pisses people off.
Likes: Uncleanliness, unpleasant smells, being assigned to cleaning duty.
Dislikes: Cleaning products, flowers, other maids.
Greatest Fear: Baths.
Ambitions/Desires: When she's not on maid duty, Akane travels Gensokyo in search of some of the most disgusting things in the world. She hopes one day to find something so disgusting it will kill her with its grossness alone. Only then will she find eternal peace.
Weapons: Long tongue is long. And sticky. She also has claws and sharp pointy teeth, but she prefers to use her tongue.
Abilities and Fighting Style: When she's not using magic, she often uses her long tongue, which can stretch to about 50 feet, to whip or entangle her enemies. Her tongue can be abbrasive and hurt like hell, but if you do survive the attack then you'll probably be squeaky clean.
Akane has limited flight (which uses her tongue as a rotor), can release clouds of odor, and has the following spell cards:
Filth sign - Bad breath: A large green cloud floats out of Akane's mouth. It smells bad. Really bad. Like vomit-from-the-mouth-bleed-from-the-eyes-and-nose-in-a-literal-sense bad. It can be fanned away, but it's best to just avoid it.
Filth sign - Moldstorm: Globs of mold fly out of Akane, spreading across whatever they hit and slowly eating away at it. If this hits an enemy, the enemy will become engulfed in mold that will slowly chew away at them.
Filth sign - Sludge vomit: Many gallons of a sticky, high-viscosity liquid come jetting out of Akane's throat, pinning enemies to the floor or walls and making it so they can't move effectively... Or sometimes at all.
Filth sign - Rains of gold: Like mortars, a burning golden acid falls from the sky, releasing a horendous odor and burning through whatever it hits. Akane, however is immune to this spell. It does not work indoors.
Taste sign - Licking cage: Akane's tongue extends beyond its usual limits, and forms a sort of cat's-cradle around Akane and her targets. If one of them touches the tongue, then it'll snap to a tighter size and entangle them with a sharp force of retraction... This is mostly a movement-limiting spell card.
Taste sign - Saliva suction: A thick, soaplike substance that isn't soap (Akane HATES soap) comes out of Akane's mouth and either floods the room or creates a pond or very large puddle. Stepping into it is unwise, as she'll suck it back up as well as anything that's in it.
Strengths: Her magic is powerful, she's good at keeping enemies at a distance, and she's pretty fast in most aspects.
Weaknesses: She can't use magic effectively if she's hungry or thirsty (which using magic tends to make her), she's physically frail, and if somebody does get close she sucks at melee combat... Like, really sucks.
History: Akane grew up as an orphan, wandering the human village and hiding from exterminators. She always hoped that she could find a home, but this proved difficult. Nobody wanted her, because her manners were horrid and her breath smelled bad. It seemed that life held nothing for her here... So eventually she left the village, hoping that maybe other youkai would be more accepting.
Indeed, her day came. When she was wandering past an ominous mansion, a psychotic maid jumped out of one of the windows yelling "Filth! Filth! Begone from this place!" Akane tried to run, but the maid would not stop chasing her and trying to shoot her with Lysol. Akane was afraid. She knew that this maid would kill her if she didn't act fast. She bacame more scared. Then angry. Then everything went red.
When Akane came to, the maid laid in front of her on the ground. Dead. Her neck was broken, her face half gone, and her apron freshly cleaned. Akane couldn't recall the battle. She had lost herself, just standing there with blood on her tongue. Then she heard clapping. "Well done," the mistress said, wings stretched and floating a few yards above. "You murdered one of my maids singlehandedly... Whats more, all of the blood and stains in her clothing are gone... I wish to see more of how you use that power... Besides, I think I'll need somebody to replace that useless corpse you left lying there. You're hired. Now take out the trash." Akane wasn't sure whether to be happy or scared, but nonetheless she did as the girl said and tossed the maid into the lake. Since then Akane has been employed at the Scarlet Devil Mansion, cleaning various spills, stains, and intruders.
