Name: Shara Kaline
Nicknames/Titles: The Shining Lioness
Age: 21
Age Appearance: 21
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Appearance: Her shoulder-length wavy hair is naturally a bright, fiery, light red. She has golden eyes that look cool and confident at all times. Her build appears perfectly average, but there is an amazing amount of muscle packed into it, she is quite capable of throwing a grown man across a room. She is rather tall as well, though far from being tall enough to be considered a giant. Whether she's traveling or at a formal event, she always wears her armor, only taking it off to sleep, sometimes not even then.
Her armor consists of a thick steel breastplate, greaves, gauntlets, and boots, and then chain mail armor underneath, covering everything below her neck. Underneath that she wears a thin, silky nightgown, only thick enough to keep her chainmail from rubbing against her skin... no one will ever see her in that though, she only takes her armor off when she's sleeping alone and behind a locked door. She is adept at getting her armor on very quickly too, and even if she hears something going on outside, she will put it back on before investigating. She also wears a cape along with her armor, black with gold trim around the edges, and the same golden color on the underside of it as well.
Her right gauntlet has an indentation in the back, which has a blue gem inside, with a ring of a golden-colored metal on top of it.
Personality: Her dedication to justice is amazing. If she hears of a group of bandits, she must fight them, if she hears of a corrupt noble, she must unmask them. She almost seems like your standard generic law-keeper... she's not. While she is incredibly difficult to actually get angry, if you manage it, she will throw you through the air. She is competitive beyond belief, and will NOT settle for anyone being better than her at fighting. She also has nothing to do with the people who are supposed to be keeping the law themselves anymore, and has little faith in them. While many real criminals get locked up, many don't and she is willing to deal with them herself if the law won't at this point. She has nowhere to imprison them, so her only way of dealing with them... should not need explaining.
Shara almost always seems completely cool and confident. If she has a sword pointed at her throat, she's more likely to grab it and try to twist it out of the wielder's hand than anything else. Of course, she does have gauntlets that she pretty much always wears, so that will probably succeed.
Likes:
Defending those that can't defend themselves
Wearing her armor
Beating anyone who would harm someone who is defenseless into the ground
Dislikes:
Her armor being removed if others are around
Feeling vulnerable
Anyone who would take advantage of others for their own gain
Greatest Fear: That she'll end up losing her temper and harming an innocent person
Ambitions/Desires: To free the world of evil
Weapons: A four foot long broadsword, with a crossguard that has gold along the top, and a ruby set into the center. Inside this ruby, you'll notice flames if you look closely, and if you look long enough, you'll see them form into the shape of a lion. Even hear it roar...
Abilities and Fighting Style:
Shara fights with incredibly powerful, unforgiving sword strikes, that can easily crush through rock with a single blow, much less an opponent. However, like all of her companions from outside Gensokyo, she is able to prevent her attacks from doing any substantial physical damage, instead simply striking their energy directly, knocking the wind out of them and exhausting them at the same time.
She also has the ability to manipulate fire, though her ability to actually summon it is limited. She can double the heat and size of existing flames in addition to controlling them, but any flames she summons are next to useless at long range. While she can send a rapid burst at up to five feet around her, or along the ground, any projectiles she sends through the air will be rather easy to dodge, either that or so spread out that they have very little effect.
Shara is also able to send extremely rapid shockwaves of pure force out, about up to five feet around her, or in one direction along the ground. Either way, they're powerful enough to knock most enemies down. However, she cannot send them over long distances through the air, and anything she sends along the ground will essentially be negated if the ground raises or lowers in height by more than six inches at once (IE: Stairs)
Strengths:
Sheer overpowering physical strength, able to crush rocks
Incredible endurance and the ability to take a lot of hits
Ability to manipulate fire
Weaknesses:
Somewhat reckless fighting style, doesn't even try to dodge attacks unless they are sufficiently visibly intimidating or she knows from experience that they're too powerful for taking the hit to be a good idea.
Her personality is likely to get her into fights, which even for her, is not a good idea in Gensokyo with the sheer power many people have.
Not at all good at long-ranged attacks, unless the enemy is standing on relatively level ground, and she is as well. (Even this is arguable since all they'd need to do to avoid it is jump...) Any long-distance attacks otherwise will either be incredibly easy to dodge, or too weak to matter.
Though her strength means that her armor's weight isn't likely to affect her that much, she still isn't incredibly fast, and combined with her lack of effective ranged attacks, any enemy that's faster than her is likely to be extremely difficult for her to defeat if she's fighting alone.
History: Shara originally lived just outside a small village in another world, along with her parents and her brother. Her parents didn't approve in the least of her learning how to fight, though her father eventually gave in to her insistence, both he and her mother treated her with scorn for it.
One day, when she was fourteen, the village was invaded by bandits. Shara's family tried to run away, but the bandits soon caught up with them. Shara tried to fight them, but they killed her parents (while her brother cowered fearfully) and she stood no chance alone. While she slowly faded into unconsciousness, she heard the leader say something about having done what they were paid for and to leave her alive.
When Shara woke up, her brother was nowhere in sight, and she couldn't find him when she looked for him. She ended up heading to the capital city of her country, and trained to be a knight. After four years, she was accepted, having completed her training. Though some of the other knights treated her with scorn at first for being a woman, they all soon learned to respect her, considering that when several of them at once ganged up on her, she was able to effortlessly beat them into the ground.
After three years of serving as a knight, and as essentially ordinary law enforcement when she could, she found out something disturbing. Many of the things she'd been assigned to do were because of a particular noble, using the knights of the kingdom to kill people he was angry at... When she confronted him, he revealed that he had also hired the "bandits" that had destroyed her village, because her parents had once stole something from him.
Shara charged toward him, enraged, but before she could do so, everything seemed to go up in flames... And then went dark. When she woke up, the entire city except for the castle was in ashes, though she strangely felt only slightly burnt. She saw one other person who hadn't been burnt to a crisp as well, a friend of hers named Brian.
Shara soon found out that the entire kingdom had suffered this fate. Many places hadn't been damaged nearly as badly as the capital, there were a large number of survivors outside it. The queen was dead, the princess who had been imprisoned had disappeared, as had the king... No one who had seen what happened had survived...
Slowly, the people rebuilt their kingdom, but there was no heir to the throne. After some time however, the princess reappeared... Though she'd once been feared as a demon, as she healed the people with a seemingly magical song, she was thought more of as an angel... Considering that she now had wings, it didn't seem that far off.
Shara had been mostly heading out and getting rid of bandits when not helping rebuild things, but she was currently visiting Brian when the princess came to the town he was staying in. Suddenly, something went wrong with Brian... He was shaking badly, and seemed to be in pain... Shara could have sworn she sensed some kind of energy radiating from him...
Suddenly, the princess came rushing in, and began singing the song of healing she was known for. The energy receded, and Brian collapsed. Shara spoke up, "Er... Princess-" The princess interrupted, "My name is Alicia, not 'princess' " Shara was slightly startled, but said, "Alright then... Alicia... Do you have any idea what was wrong? There was some sort of energy..."
Suddenly, someone else came in. "Alicia?" the man said, "What happened here? I thought I sensed something..." He looked over toward Brian, "Wait... Was it coming from him? I still sense it, just less..." Alicia interrupted him, and explained, "Yes, it's something like you Drake. I think he has some sort of dark power sealed inside him..."
"Dark power?" Shara interrupted, "What are you talking about?" Then they explained some strange story about how they'd been traveling between worlds, trying to stop evil itself. Shara found it rather hard to believe... But then again, she was in the same room as a girl with wings who could heal with a song, who didn't used to have wings, and a ridiculously tall man who'd had to bend over slightly to fit through the door, and had an unnatural looking mark on his hand... And she'd sensed that horrible energy...
Brian, who had been unconscious, though Shara hadn't worried because she'd noticed that he was breathing just fine, woke up at this point. "What happened? I felt something, and I was suddenly so terrified, that voice-" He seemed to cut himself off quickly. "Voice?" Shara asked, "What voice?"
Alicia interrupted, "It seems likely that whatever power is sealed inside him can affect his mind somewhat. Apparently it sensed us nearby, and didn't react well..." She shook her head, "Leaving him alone with that power wouldn't be a good idea. He'll have to come with us when we leave again..."
Shara interrupted. "Hold it! He's not going anywhere dangerous without me!" The two of them didn't disagree, apparently they wanted whatever help they could get. A light shone out from Alicia, and enveloped Shara, who felt... Stronger. Like a power inside her had been unlocked...
Shara didn't bother asking for an explanation. Alicia left, while Drake stayed to make sure nothing else happened with Brian. After some time, Alicia came back, and asked if they were ready to go. Neither Shara nor Brian objected, and suddenly, they found themselves in another world.
They traveled together for a while, along with some other companions, but it wasn't long before something especially strange happened. Drake disappeared, and after some discussion, Alicia decided to try and find out where he went.
However, she didn't come back for some time, which was strange... After some time, Brian spoke up, sounding unsure of himself as always "I... Uh... Want to follow Alicia and Drake..." Shara looked over at him, "What?" "Erm..." He seemed unsure of what to say, "I... Uh... I don't want to just sit around waiting... If they haven't come back yet, something's probably really wrong and... I, well... Don't want to just wait... I'm scared, but..."
No doubt he really was scared. Shara knew that Brian was... Jumpy. Scared of his own shadow at times, and really usually terrified at the idea of combat. She didn't understand why he would want to go into an unknown situation where there would likely be fighting. Perhaps... Despite his fear, he really was brave.
Shara said to Brian, "Alright. I'll go with you." He looked relieved, clearly not wanting to go alone. Shara instantly knew what to do, and concentrated, trying to figure out where Alicia and Drake were... She could sense them somehow, the world they were in... And then she was in another world. But, Brian wasn't anywhere in sight...
