Name: Cristophe Alfonse Dublanc
Nicknames/Titles: Baron Dublanc
Age: 800
Age Appearance: 24
Race: Vampire
Gender: Male
Appearance:
His pants are a black, velvety kind of cloth. His shoes are dress shoes, also colored black. His cape extends down to about knees.
Personality: Cristophe attempts to act in a gentlemanly manner whenever possible. He will attempt to act in a polite manner, as well try not to act in overtly destructive ways. However, he can get quite angry if you decide to slight him in some way. He tends to be quite gentle towards those he likes the company of, but somewhat cold and aloof towards those he dislikes associating with.
Cristophe cares deeply for the people within his rather small Barony, and will not tolerate any remarks derogatory towards his homeland. Although, the chance that one would have heard of the small place is most likely rather slim.
He is a very responsible person, and will attempt to follow through with things that he has been tasked with, provided that they are within reason. He has no preferred hobbies. He's rather formal in attitude, depending on how long he has known you.
Abilities and Fighting Style: Cristoph's weaponry consists of a longsword. The longsword is average length, and constructed out of a strange, crystalline material. The grip of the sword is bound in an azure leather. The guard of the sword and the grip is constructed out of a strong, tempered steel. The actual blade of the sword is made out of the crystalline material, which could possibly be a form of reinforced Jade.
He is adept at handling his sword, but most of the time he keeps his within a black leather sheath. He usually uses it while it's within the Sheath, in order to prevent serious injuries. Should he take it out, it means he either considers you a threat, or wishes to take you out quickly.
He is proficient in the use of summoning, or perhaps animation magic. Not particularly during combat, but he will usually animate a golem, or summon some creature to come with him when he goes out.
Spell Cards:
Imposition: Cristophe is able to compel sentient undead who are weaker in will power and magic then he is into performing an action. The larger the gap, the stronger the compulsion is on them, no matter mental or physical state. If the compulsion is telling them to do something they would naturally agree with, it is harder to resist (Such as telling Yuyuko to consume things). The compulsion will apply, even if the action is impossible. Cristophe must be about 20 feet from the sentient undead who is the target in order for the compulsion to take effect, though.
Intonement: Cristophe draws a circle in the ground, he then focuses magic into it and "pulls" at the elements. If done correctly, either a Wind or Earth elemental will form. Time consuming, not for use mid-battle.
Exhume: Cristophe scatters bone shards from a pouch on his waist. His magic then replicates the bone, until a skeleton forms. The skeleton will be holding a jagged, sword-shaped piece of bone in so far as weaponry. This can be done mid-battle. But it does require concentration.
Blasphemy: Cristophe draws a circle on the ground, similar to Intonement. He focuses magic into it as well, but this time he has the chance of summoning an animal. The location where he performed the summoning affects what animal appears. All animals summoned this way will be about the size of a large dog, and subservient to Cristophe.
History: Cristophe's family owned land upon the France-Germany border. They resided within a secluded sequence of valleys interconnected within a mountain range. They were known as the Barony of Silencieux, due to how quiet their lands were. Cristophe's family and lands were all quite well off, somewhat prosperous really. A somewhat independant state, actually. Though in truth it was only because they were so secluded that neither the sovereign of France nor Germany payed attention to them.
This allowed numerous benefits. No government interference, of course. And as the Dublanc family was quite fair towards their people, they seldom dealt with military based problems (having to root out bandit groups being the main reason for mobilizing their troops). It also allowed them to avoid the inquisition. That, is, of course a good thing, considering that the Dublanc family would likely be taken in as heretics. The Dublancs studied Necromancy, as well as summoning.
Scion after scion expounded on the previous research of the family, adding to the vast archives of notes, research, and progress from previous ages. Young Cristophe was inducted into the family "trade" at the tender age of 10. It was shown that he held promise within the field, and his parents wanted him trained as quickly as possible. Why? They had obtained word that a local bandit overlord had acquired a large amount of power, and had begun an expedition against him. These bandits, though, were surprisingly well trained.
This meant that the Barony's soldiers were often taxed doing constant patrols and watches in order to protect the borders of the Barony. Baron Darkuois Dublanc, Cristophe's father would often summon either Wind or Earth elementals to aid his troops. But, such a limited amount being sent out would hardly make a difference, and so they looked to young Cristophe to aid them in this endeavor.
They were wrong to look to a child, ever so wrong. While practicing his summoning within one of his family's summer manses at the age of 12, he botched the ritual. To this day, he knows not how, only that circle grew out until it encompassed the manse, as well several nearby villages. There was a spectacular flash of light, and they appeared within Gensokyo.
The young lad was astonished when he awoke. Here he was, within this fantastically different land. But, he did know he had a duty. He went out riding, to comfort those people who had been transplanted along with him. His Manse was no large affair, no towering house of gilt windows and silver doors. It was still a large home though, and scarcely had he set out on his mount, then he met a flood of concerned peasants.
He set about creating order. It took him several years before he was able to establish something that worked. At the age of 19, he was governing over his Barony quite ably. However, during an inspection ride, he chanced over what appeared to be an exhausted and unconscious girl. His sense of Chivalry compelled him to aid her, and he brought her back to the manse.
What he didn't know, when he woke her that night, was that she was a vampire. Of course not Remilia or Flandre, but still a vampire. Her way of thanking him was to... convert him, shall we say. So shocked was he at being turned into a vampire, that his memory is but a haze of that night.
The many years passed, passed with winter, with spring, with summer, with fall. He witnessed the people he ruled over die, he witnessed them born. And gradually, gradually he began to feel a sense of melancholy. What good of a leader, was he, to watch his people die over the years while he sat in about, ruling, his aging not even a factor compared to theirs. They adapted to Gensokyo, yes, they had to, in order to fight any itinerantly nasty Youkai. He was a good Baron, yes, making sure he ruled his people correctly, and not harshly.
Yet, as the years passed, he often felt a small pang of sadness whenever he went out to inspect his Barony. The smiling young woman wishing her handsome Baron a good day, reminding him of the long dead great-grandmother who said the same thing. The Knight standing at attention as he passed, causing his memory to ghost over his distant ancestor who once did the same when he was a young lad.
He knew he could not merely change them. How could he enforce such a thing upon those that he presided over in good conscious? Yet still, he could not stay there indefinitely, not whilst letting such guilt pour over him. He knew of the happenings in Gensokyo, as he sent out people to bring in information. So, he felt that he should take a vacation of sorts.
He disappeared from the Barony upon his 500th year of life. The maid who opened his door greeted only by the sight of his wings disappearing out of his window. Cristophe traveled, and he observed. He watched youkai feed on humans. In return, he saw Humans slaughter Youkai. He passed upon the fringes of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, and looked at the splendor within which Remilia lived. He saw the shrines, he visited towns.
He made sure to check in with his Barony, though. Often sneaking in with the shadows to tell the current regent that yes, he was still around, and yes, he was still watching to ensure the people were happy. Yet still he wanders. His 800th year of life passed just recently, but he still moves about Gensokyo.
