Within the Scarlet Devil Manor is Gensokyo's, and quite possibly the world's, largest collection of knowledge. Books of all kinds, whether they are magical or mundane, native to Gensokyo or the outside world, are guaranteed to be found here. The Voile is a training magician's greatest asset, and a wonderful place to visit for anyone who has a desire to learn. However, such a valuable repository is not easy to come by. Visitors to the library will be required to wait for the succubus Koakuma to guide them through the maze of bookcases. If the proper protocols are not adhered to, one of the many magical books placed throughout the library will detect and fire upon any unknown beings, assuming them to be intruders or thieves. The library itself is capable of waging war against any detected intruders, and is not to be taken lightly. To those that visit the library with peaceful intentions, Koakuma will provide them with all they need. Guiding them through the library, she will make sure that visitors get the books they require quickly. The library's advanced study area is usually where she will allow knowledge seeker to wait and research, while those who seek to experiment and train their magical skills will usually be taken to the library's atrium. Visitors who come to train and experiment will almost certainly remain under the watch of Koakuma, and if she ever leaves, several magical books will be poised to attack if the visitor's intentions shift.
Patchouli took a deep breath as she began her day, knowing that Koakuma would have breakfast waiting. Thinking of the grimoires she would use in her research for the day as she walked up to the library from her smalls private study, she looked around the library. Voile's atrium let in a lot of light in the mornings now, and while Patchouli was not one to get much time outside, the sun did feel good on her skin. Sitting at a small table to eat, Patchouli could tell that her familiar, the succubus Koakuma, was already hard at work. Hearing Koakuma's flight overhead, Patchouli saw that the books she had requested had already been laid aside for her. She's such a diligent familiar... I'm sure that in terms of pure diligence, she would be quite a match for the Shikigami of a certain boundary-manipulating youkai. Chuckling to herself over her thought, Patchouli cracked open a book to begin the day's research.

Percival waited near to the entrance of the library, leaning against the wall patiently as he waited for Kaokuma. He was here to introduce himself, having recently joined Remilia's employ. Although, he wasn't exactly sure of what duties he was supposed to carry out. At any rate, it was only courteous for him to introduce himself to Patchouli, as well as Kaokuma, as they might have to interract in the future.
He wrote within his book, scripting down his thoughts of the library. "Rather magnificent, I'm sure I'll be able to add some information to the pages of events and people." He muttered, flipping back a few pages and frowning at the absence of filled space upon certain subjects. He shook his head slightly, and returned to the newest page he had opened up.
The page, titled The Voile, yes including the underline, was filled about 1/3 of the way with writing. Percival hoped to finish the page, as well as write more after he met Kaokuma. Still though, he though it best not to impose upon Patchouli so early, and as such waited by the entrance. Never mind what sort of trouble he could get in to should he get lost.
Note: Yes, Drake and I have discussed it. Percy is in Remi's employment, though we haven't yet RPed that out in the Time To Party thread.

Koakuma was flying through the library, shelving the books that Patchouli had been reading the day before, when she "felt" a message in her head. One of the magic books (specifically, a sentry) was letting her know that someone was at the front of the library. Quickly returning the first book in her hands to its rightful place, she turned and glided on down to ground level, landing near the library's entryway.
Hovering the rest of the short distance, Koakuma put the few remaining volumes down on a desk and turned to face the visitor. This man was unfamiliar to her, so she suspected that her mistress did not know him either... Assuming he was here for research, she cleared her throat and spoke. "Welcome to the Voile library. My name is Koakuma, and I will be your guide. Tell me, what books are you looking for, or are you here to experiment?"

She had been wandering for a while now, ever since her house had been destroyed and she had fled from the Scarlet Devil Mansion when she was sure she would die in the battle, but now she was back. Starting over, wanting to empower herself.
Katrina peeked in to the library and cautiously stepped in, waiting for the assistant librarian to guide her to the atrium. She was currently busy with another man, and Katrina didn't want to interrupt, so she waited.

Koakuma had not received a response from the man when another person showed herself. She didn't recognize the new woman either, and gave a curt nod before giving her a slight modification on the usual greeting. "Welcome to the Voile library. If you happen to be going to the same location as this gentleman, I'll take you together. Otherwise, I'll have to ask you to wait here. Now, where do you two plan to go today~?".

"Hello there Miss Kaokuma. Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Percival. I'm merely here to introduce myself to both you, as well as Madame Patchouli, as I've recently been hired Mistress Remilia." Percival stated, putting away his book and slowly sticking his right hand out for a handshake.
"Oh, yes. I would like to thank you for coming here to promptly and taking time out of your busy schedule as well." Percival added on, before turning towards the other girl. His eyes widened slightly, before narrowing. "You know, miss. Milady Remilia informed me of some recent events concerning the Mansion, after I was hired. In particular, a rather disastrous break in. One of the people she described fits you rather well appearance wise. Why don't we wait her until Mistress Remilia arrives?" said Percival.

Remilia finished her tea, and began walking toward the library. She had been a bit thirsty, so she had sent Percival ahead while she had a quick cup of tea. The tea was not a substitute for blood, but it did assist in quenching thirst for a bit, even for one such as herself. She still was not sure why it had such an effect, but she hardly found it worthy of complaint.
As Remilia entered the library, she saw Percival. "Ah, Percy. I apologize for the delay. Hm?" She then noticed the girl that was standing there. A look of anger came onto her face. "You! How DARE you show your face again?! I warned you never to return here. I don't know how you got in, but I assure you, you shall not come out."
Remilia then grinned. She was not going to give this intruder a clean death. No... There would be no Gungnir this time. She would break this intruders bones one at a time for what she had done. There would be no mercy this time. She began advancing on the intruder...

Koakuma listened to Percival's introduction and awkwardly shook his hand. She knew it was a Western gesture of goodwill, but despite the European feel of the mansion, she had never actually used it. However, she grinned a little when he mentioned the other woman. "She can't be an intruder, silly! She's standing right he-"
She cut herself off when she saw Remilia Scarlet, the mistress of the mansion, approaching with a look of twisted joy on her face. As far as Koakuma knew, the mistress of the mansion only came once in a while to trade pleasantries with Patchouli or in serious times of crisis, so she was unfamiliar with her current expression. "Wha- What's going on!?"

Katrina froze. An expression of the utmost shock was on her face. How was she going to learn danmaku now?
After what seemed like a long while, she spoke.
"I only came here last time because I kind of liked one of the people who was here, but I ran. I'm very sorry about that. I came here hoping to start my life over and learn some more magic. And it is quite an honor to have the chance to speak to you, my lady," she added, curtsying to the Scarlet Devil.
"I do not wish to continue wandering, my lady. And I apologize for bringing no gift to you, I did not expect to meet you here." She curtsied again.

"You do realize that harshly wounding someone in Remilia's employ means that you're damaging Milady Remilia's servants. Damaging the servants of one of the more powerful members of Gensokyo is quite foolish, no? Attempting to repatriate with such a weak apology is almost... contemptuous. After all, words can hardly help to soothe the pain of a physical wound, no matter how pretty they are." Percival stated, giving Katrina a cold look.
His hands were busy though, one holding his book, the other frantically writing. After all, who was he not to take advantage of ths situation to add to Remilia's section in his research?

Remilia listened as the girl spoke. It was hardly as if she would be able to get away after all. Remilia was quite fast, far more than any mere human. And powerful. More so than the vast majority of youkai as well. There was no chance that this girl could get away from her.
...And the explanation was not satisfactory. Particularly after the points that Percival made. "And what exactly, should make us believe the words of one that has been sentenced to death, when those words are obviously meant to make that sentence go away, hm?" She then glanced to Koakuma, "This is one of those responsible for that attack on the mansion some time ago. If you would recall, China and Ake were both critically wounded, and Byaku was barely able to keep them both from dying."
Remilia returned her gaze to the intruder, appearing thoughtful. "Actually, come to think of it, there might be one way to prove that you are sorry for what your friends have done..." she paused, as if waiting for Katrina to ask "What?" Then, she grinned the same cruel grin as before, and shouted, "Die for it!" She then grabbed toward the girl's left arm, intending to make a broken arm just the beginning of the slow death that she would inflict...

"STOP."
The message rang clearly through the library, and the voice was easily identifiable as belonging to the librarian, Patchouli Knowledge. Having used some Wood-based wind magic to temporarily enhance her voice, the fluffy pink robe flew through the air and landed right next to Koakuma.
The succubus was clearly hoping for her master to arrive, but still seemed a little surprised. Patchouli herself had a scowl on her face, likely due to having been interrupted before her morning research could truly get off the ground. Looking from Remilia to the girl, the man, and back to Remilia again, she listened as Koakuma spoke in a hushed tone to her.
Now knowing more about the dispute, Patchouli cleared her throat. "...Now that I have your attention, I hope you won't be starting any fights in here. Koakuma wouldn't like to clean blood off of the books anyway."

Truth be told, when Katrina had apologized she had been more scared than anything else. She certainly had no reason to revere the Scarlet Devil, and she certainly did live up to her name, what with grabbing Katrina's arm and beginning to slowly twist it.
The emotion that filled Katrina now was anger. Was no one going to give her a second chance?! Nevertheless her scream was one of pain as thoughts of how this devil was making her suffer.
Just then, Katrina heard the librarian, the very person she had been seeking, gave an order to release her. She stood very still, waiting, hopefully, to be let go, although she didn't think much was going to change this devil's mind other than some powerful spell.

Percival heard the word quite clearly, and turned to the new arrival. "Good day Madame Patchouli. I hope you are having a pleasant day." He paused, before continuing. "I quite agree that defiling these books would be quite... horrifying. However, there is the matter of fact that this girl has not yet been punished for earlier crimes against Milady Remilia. Perhaps bloodshed is not the best advised course of action, however. Though should you be willing to present something reasonable I'm sure it would be most agreeable to." He stated, befre turning to Remilia.
He gently placed a hand on whichever arm of Remilia's was closest to him. He then leaned down so he could speak to her. "Madame Remilia, please do calm down. I'm sure Miss Sakuya would not enjoy having to attend to bloodied garments next time she's busy with the laundry." He murmured, his voice being low enough that those other than Remilia would have to have sharp hearing in order to catch the words spoken.

Remilia stopped twisting the girl's arm when she heard the voice of Patchouli Knowledge ring out. She looked over, and said, "Hello Patchy." She then replied calmly, in response to what the librarian had said, "If hurting the books is a problem, then I could take her somewhere else."
However, then Percival pointed out that perhaps bloodshed was not the best option, and then leaned down to say that Sakuya would probably not want to deal with bloodstained garments the next time the laundry was done. Of course, that was somewhat irrelevant, seeing as how she dealt with that every time that Remilia fed directly from a person.
Regardless, it did give her pause. Yes... Perhaps there was something even crueler she could do, that would benefit her far more than simply destroying... A contract. Yes... That would be perfect. Give her a choice, die now, or serve for all eternity. Literally. Oh yes, that would be perfect~
Remilia let go of the girl's arm, her grin no longer so feral, but still there. It would likely be... Rather chilling, to those watching. "Very well, I shall spare you... On one condition." A malevolent grin entered her eye. "I shall not kill you, but in exchange, you will serve the residents of this mansion, for all of eternity." Yes... This was going to be perfect...
