--Chapter 1: Ren returns at last--

Sayuko lead Ren toward human village that Ren used to live in when he was only a little boy. Ren followed after Sayuko keeping an eye on her blade, he thought, That sword, I wonder where did she get something like that?... Sayuko noticed Ren and asked "Everything all right, Master Rolo?"
Ren shifted his eyes and looked at her, he said "Just call me Rolo, you don't have to call me a master, I am no master..."
"You are my master..." Sayuko made a faint smile "I'm in debt to you."
"No, you are not," Ren sighed slightly "Its your father that is in debt to my father, you no longer need to serve our family, that is the past..."
Sayuko stopped walking and clenched her fist. She whispered as she hid her eyes under the shadow of her bangs "...It was you that saved me.... back then..... When our parents were killed..."
"Just forget about it," Ren walked on without stopping. Sayuko looked up at Ren and kept on walking. She asked "So... You said you saw someone that you recognized here... Who is it?"
"Xiao..." Ren said nothing but the man's name. Sayuko frowned and said "Xiao? You saw a chinese man?"
Ren made no reply, he thought, What could Xiao be doing in a place like Gensokyo... It doesn't make sense... They finally made it to the human village. Sayuko said cheerfully "Ah, brings back many memories doesn't it? I remember when we used to play together here."
Ren said nothing, he walked into the human village. The villagers greeted them as they walked in. Some were whispering to one another. All Ren could hear was, 'Hey, its the girl who killed off the 4 elite swordsmen'. Ren turned his head toward Sayuko and thought, Are they referring to Sayuko? Who are the four swordsmen? Ren and Sayuko continued walking...

From the other end of the path that Ren and Sayuko walked on, another pair slowly came into view as they approached the two newcomers.

"...and then she did the most awesome spell! I want to do that so badly, I must get her to teach me...but I don't know if I can," said one of the girls. She appeared to be no older than seventeen. Her long dark hair was dancing merrily in the breeze, and one could not help but notice the gleam the sheathed katanas belted to her back caught the rays of the sun.

"What sort of spell?" asked the other girl, who couldn't be more different from the first. Her brown hair was staying put, and she seemed a lot more solemn. She appeared to be around nineteen.

"Caedir," said the first girl, "it was this huge laser that made everyone turn to look at her! She said something like 'no fair I will spark you'...I can't quite remember."

"A spark spell?" replied Caedir. "Saeryin, I don't know if you should..."

They both stopped. A boy and a nekomata were walking towards them.

Ren walked down the path and looked up noticing a phantom and a Lunarian. Ren had his left hand in his pocket as he walked, he over heard them talking about a spark, or at least thats what he thought he heard. Ren had no interest in sparks at the moment, he had a one track mind to find Xiao. They stopped in front of them, Sayuko stopped as well, she didn't whether they wanted to pass or not. Ren just kept on walking as he thought, Where could he be, I'm sure I just saw him... Is my mind playing tricks on me? Sayuko tried to get his attention "Master Rolo"
"Yeah?" Ren turned arround and responded "What is it.... Sayu?"
"Nothing," said Sayuko "I was just afraid you would run into those two."
Ren turned arround and realized he was standing right in front of the Phantom. He came to realize he in their way; He was a little shocked, he thought, Whao, I didn't notice that... I must be thinking too hard again... Ren stepped back and said to Caedir and Saeryin "My apologies, you two may pass."

Saeryin stepped back when she thought Ren was going to run into her, but she was sure he wouldn't stop walking, he seemed really deep in thought....

Then he stopped himself and apologized.

"Oh, it's okay," Caedir said.

Saeryin was interested in this pair. How come the boy was with a Nekomata? From what she'd heard, they usually didn't like humans...

"So, what's up with you?" she asked automatically when Caedir tapped her on the shoulder.

"It might not be our business," said Caedir, motioning that they should go ahead, but Saeryin did not budge.
