Name: Junpei Zerueyun
Nicknames/Titles: JP
Age: 577
Age Appearance: Looks about 19-20.
Race: Lunarian/Human
Gender: Male
Appearance:
JP's hair color is a dark-blonde with brownish roots, and his eye color is dark green.
Personality: Bright and spirited is the best way to describe how JP acts around people. For the most part, this is how he feels to. Sometimes, however, he feels really vain and reckless, and acts as if he has nothing to lose, depending on the situation. He doesn't have any problems socializing, and it's rare for him to become upset.
Likes: - Feeling as if he's in control of a situation.
- Getting control of a situation he's introduced to.
- Calling it a day if he can't control the situation and finding a fun activity to do.
- Exploring new things. If he's gonna live as long as he is, he might as well miss nothing, right?
- Interesting people. He doesn't mind if someone's a liar or a truthful thompson, just as long as he can get along with them for the time being.
- Females, of all races. As taboo as that sounds, it's how he thinks. Not to say he would flirt with every one, but he does enjoy social interaction, especially with someone who looks pretty.
Dislikes: - Discrimination against races.
- Wasteful things. Fighting, for example.
- Unfairness.
- People who can't seem to do the right, nice, or polite thing.
Greatest Fear: Feeling guilty/having a guilty conscience. I'll elaborate on this in his Weaknesses column, because to do so here would take away from that. Plus, I can explain in more detail there and in his history.
Ambitions/Desires: To learn and do everything possible. And to live his extremely long life to the fullest extent.
Weapons: None.
Abilities and Fighting Style: Electromagnetic Spectrum Cognition
JP possesses the ability to manipulate, increase, and decrease the presence and type of electromagnetic energy within an enviorment. Examples would be like using infared or ultraviolet energy to cause burns to an individual, or identify an object in adverse weather or temperature/time of day. Another example would be using visual light to cause distracting illusion patterns or bursts to evade/distract/annoy someone, or for rave parties. Due to his Lunarian traits, he can also safely handle high-energies, like radio and x-ray/gamma energy, which would normally be deadly to living things, or extremely dangerous to inanimate objects (the moon has no radiological shield).
He also has the ability to engage in fisticuffs and fast, surgical melee strikes.
Strengths:
- His kind disposition towards others.
- His combat abilities, obviously.
- His determination to get things done. He feels really motivated to do things, and can put all his might into them.
Weaknesses:
- Low stamina. While he can fight physically, he gets tired too quickly to do much if the opponent is at his stamina level or higher.
- Slow. He can run, sure, but he can't move very quickly, or dodge attacks well enough.
- He'll lose focus if someone talks about his mother. Like, really, to the point where he'd break down and cry, or lose the ability to fight coherently. He would also become really angry, which is bad, in a fight. Again, this will be elaborated in his history column.
- He also can't "create" electromagnetic energy. It has to already exist in SOME amount in the enviornment before he can expand or increase or manipulate it. Thus, depending on where he is, his powers might be even more limited.
History:
The early years (all many of them XD) were plagued with trouble for JP. For one, his birth was a mistake.
One night, a young human (who would become his mother) was ambushed by a group of Lunarians, who'd decided to visit a human village for some pillage (or some stupid group fun, they'd say). Young and innocent as she was, she had never met a Lunarian, and despite the suprise, attempted to greet them.
The leader of the gang (yeah, the eldest) took great offense to what he considered inferior-race scum treating him as an equal, and subsequently, with his group, assaulted her. At first, it consisted of light hits and abusive words, but the woman's reluctance to succumb eventually angered them even more, and to the suprise of a few of the Lunarians, the assault on the human turned sexual.
One Lunarian in particular, who had participated, felt something after the act, and made up a lie about being spotted by humans, which caused the group to subsequently leave the scene. The young human herself was left to cry and nurse her wounds, and made it home as quickly as she could, broken.
Months later, that same Lunarian who had called the false alarm returned to the village to find the woman. This Lunarian was stricken with guilt and remorse, which irked his fellow friends. Nonetheless, he found the woman and attempted to make amends, only to find out the girl was pregnant. Unsure of whether the child was his or not, he vowed to stay with her to find out. Of course, the woman, broken hearted and in despair, lashed out against the man and bore a deep hatred for him, but was powerless to keep him away.
Soon, the child was born. As the Lunarian feared (and somewhat hoped), the child bore resemblance to him. At this, he felt even more guilt and remorse, and panic set in. The mother, who had grown used to his presence (but still carried a nagging grudge against him and his sin), tried to convince him that it was his responsibility to take care of the child with her, and that even though he did a cursed thing, the only way he could atone was to stay and raise what was his.
The Lunarian, however, left soon after, in agony over what he had done, and not having the courage to do what was right. Thus, the young human mother was left to raise the child on her own. The child looked more like his father than her, and in the early years, the mother grew to despise this.
She loved the child because it was her own, but everytime she looked at him or held him, it was a painful reminder of the transgression against her and the lack of will to atone for a sin. While she gave the boy a typical first name, she grudgingly gave him the father's name as a surname, to identify his half-Lunarian race, and to hopefully bring shame to the man one day, should this boy go to the moon and identify his father.
Thus, the boy's grew up with a mother who both loved and hated him.
Before his mother died of despair and old age, she told her son something that would forever remain with him, as a weakness. She intended it to be a piece of advice for the son she loved, and also a punishment for the product of such a vile act and person:
"Always be beholden to your conscience. Guilt will take away what you cannot hold, and leave you barren and broken. Do the right thing, even if nobody else will. And should you do wrong, suffer for it. Anyone with a conscience should, lest they forget their misdeeds".
After her death, the boy, still young in Lunarian terms, moved to the moon, attempting to find his father, and also mix in with the people there. After hundreds of years, he continues his attempt to lead a guilt-free existence, and fight the demons of his past.
