History:
(Mokuko has no memory of his time as an ordinary puppet as he did not have a mind at that time, so don't expect him to actively recall any of the following during the RP.)
Mokuko was the greatest masterpiece of an eccentric puppeteer who wanted to make a name for himself by staging a show with life-sized puppets. Being an eccentric, he only realized that such large puppets would be too heavy after he finished the first one.
Though he would never be able to use Mokuko in that state, he had become too attached to the puppet to use its wood in smaller creations and he kept it with him until the day of his death. His family took good care of the puppet for generations afterward as a sign of remembrance, but it was eventually lost in a Youkai attack and as luck would have it, it survived to gain a life of its own.
Initially he had trouble finding his place in the bigger picture as he had no past to draw on and he was a painfully slow learner (not that it bothered him too much). It took him almost five years to realize that he didn't belong among humans and that he wasn't a human himself, and after that he looked to other Youkai for inspiration.
From his observations he concluded that a new Youkai must first develop a fearsome reputation among humans, but he never succeeded. He found out the hard way that he was weaker than most gifted humans and other Youkai, so he could not gain a reputation for strength or skill in battle. Gaining a place among the 'invisible terrors' was out of the question as well as the existing haunts were taken and violently defended.
After more than two decades he finally decided that he would be better off as an unknown drifter and he resolved to spend his time seeking entertainment and adventure wherever his instincts took him.

Abilities and Fighting Style:
- Magical Abilities:
- Mokuko is a puppet which gained a soul after many years in Gensokyo.
As a puppet he has no need to eat or sleep and he does not feel pain from injuries. His body is actually animated by his soul and destroying portions of it has an effect similar to removing the clothes from a person- it simply exposes the corresponding portions of his soul. If his entire body is destroyed he remains alive but cannot do anything more than float around until a new body is created for him. In his soul state he cannot be harmed by physical attacks and magical attacks with physical effects, but he has the same weaknesses as other purely spiritual beings.
Most of his special abilities are based on what he calls Astral Strings, Youkai versions of the strings that controlled him when he was still an ordinary puppet. He can project one from each finger and from each toe and they are invisible at their normal power level. Any object or being wrapped in one or more of the strings comes under his control, although he will end up being controlled if he snags something more powerful than himself. He usually restricts himself to controlling weak creatures and inanimate objects.

- Physical abilities:
- Mokuko's strength and agility are noticeably above average for a 15 year old boy and the nature of his body allows him to move in ways that would severely injure a human. He also does not get tired but his endurance is limited by the durability of the wood in his body. Like most Youkai, he also has the ability to fly at will and he is quite agile in the air.

- Weapons:
- None
- Fighting style:
His regular attacks have him projecting his Astral Strings at full power, which makes each one appear to be a blue-white laser as thick as the finger it was fired from. The Strings behave like lasers as well, traveling in a straight line and cutting or burning a target depending on the angle of contact. While he can fire all twenty at once if he needs to, he seldom uses more than one or two at a time. They are also relatively low powered as far as attacks go and are only fully effective on fairies and basic Youkai such as himself.
While he is fairly proficient in melee, his physical strength pales in comparison to stronger Youkai- many of whom can snap him in half easily. He therefore tries his best to stay away from an opponent during a fight.
Spell Cards:
(1) Marionette Sign: [Astral Binding] allows Mokuko to mimic one opponent perfectly for thirty seconds regardless of of the power difference between them, completely reproducing every move and attack. He doesn't use this card often, however, as it forces him to mirror every single action an opponent performs- a fact that smarter enemies can use against him by maneuvering him to target his allies.
(2) Marionette Sign: [Reverse Astral Binding] works the opposite way, forcing one opponent to mimic every move and attack Mokuko performs for thirty seconds. As with his normal Astral Strings, however, a stronger opponent can control him when he uses this spell card.
(3) Restoration Sign: [Astral Assembly] incorporates objects and materials from the surrounding area to replace any body parts that Mokuko has lost. However, anything not made of the same wood as his current body will revert to its original form after five minutes.
(4) Hazard Sign: [Astral Web] is Mokuko's only real combat spell card. It allows him to fire all his Astral Strings continuously for thirty seconds and makes them refract and branch randomly in mid-air, creating a deadly three-dimensional web over a large area in front of him. The Strings are still projected at normal power, however, and opponents strong enough to resist the normal Astral Strings are equally safe from this attack. - Strengths
- Mokuko is very agile in the air and has good flying skills.
- He can obtain a new body after his old one is destroyed as long as his soul is safe.
- He does not feel pain and does not get tired, and he cannot be disabled by damage to his body unless entire parts are removed.
- Mokuko is very agile in the air and has good flying skills.
- Weaknesses
- Catches fire easily
- Zero tactical sense
- Below average danmaku ability (lacks bullet-based attacks)
- Catches fire easily
