This is considerably different from the way we normally RP here, in fact it may not be an RP at all. Basically I am the GM Kitten4u (fear me etc.) and I write everything that happens. All you do is give me a basic direction. For example I might post something like this: There is a fork in the road. -Go right -Go left You would tell me which direction you want to go and then I will write what happens. So, basically your replies don't have to have a lot of words, description or anything. You're not playing a character either. This is basically a strategy game, so feel free to talk with the other people that are playing (remember guests, you're free to post in this subforum!). I won't do anything until everyone's come to a desicion. If people are unable to come to a desicion I'll either pick the one that the majority chose, or if each choice has the same number of votes I'll flip a coin or something. If the choices are not mutually exclusive of each other then I will do both. --- FightingEvery so often you will have to fight something. Like everything in this thread, it's done differently than most everything else on this forum. The battle system is based off of Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga with some Touhou elements. For those not familiar with the SMT series, here's how this works. You have stats, HP, MP and skills. STR: Affects the damage of physical attacks VIT: Affects HP and def MAG: Affects MP and magic damage AGI: Affects hitrate and dodge rate LUC: Affects crit rate, escape odds, and chances of finding rare items HP: Hit Points. When this reaches 0 the character dies. If the entire party's HP reaches 0 then you get a "game over." MP: Needed to cast spells. If the character does not have enough they cannot use the spell P. Dam: Physical damage. How much damage physical attacks do. M. Dam: Magic damage. How much damage magical attacks do. Def: Defense. Lowers the amount of damage the character takes. There will also be other RPG elements and all that jazz. Battles are turned based. Player characters go first unless otherwise specified. There can be a maximum of four characters in the party at once. Characters can be swapped during battle, however it'll take up one press turn. What is a press turn? Clearly you aren't familiar with the SMT series (which is quite a shame ). Anyway, by default, every player character and enemy will have one press turn. So, if your party is full you get four. You gain an extra one every time you get a critical hit (can only be done with physical attacks) or hit an enemy's weakness. You lose press turns if you miss the enemy, if the enemy dodges an attack, if you hit them with something they null (nulify, does no damage), reflect (reflects the damage back to the attacker), or absorbes (attack will heal the target) the attack. The same is true for the enemy. So, if they hit your weakness they get an extra press turn. If they miss you they lose one. Once you run out of press turns your turn is over. During your turn you can do many different things. Here's the basic menu: -Attack (attacks using equipped weapon) -Skill (uses a skill, more on this later) -Item (uses an item) -Switch Character (swaps character) -Guard (more on this later) -Skip (Skips the character's turn, only takes up half a press turn) -Escapes (escapes from battle, some battles are inescapable) AttackDoes light physical damage with equipped weapon. Does not consume an HP or MP. SkillEach character can have up to eight usable skills at once. Once you have eight and you want to learn another skill you have to forget one. If you forget a skill you can learn it again later (I'll keep a list for you, no worries), however, you can only swap skills outside of battle. Physical skills take a percentage of your HP, and magical skills take a percentage of your MP. A physical attack's damage is based off of the character's weapon, STR, and the base damage the skill does. Magical attacks are based off of the character's MAG and the spell's base damage. Skills can be used as long as you have enough HP or MP. Characters also get a certain number of spell cards. Spell cards take no HP or SP to cast, however there are only a limted number of them. Once used, they cannot be used again until the party rests specifically at an inn unless otherwise specified. The amount the character gets varies. Their damage is based off of the weapon, STR, MAG, and the spell base. ItemPretty self-explainitory. Consumable items cannot be used again, and non-consumable items can be. Equipment cannot be changed during battle. Switch CharacterIf the party has more than four people then some people have to stay out of the fight. If you want a certain character to fight then you can have them switch places with any character, but it will cost one press turn. GuardThis action takes a full press turn. While guarding the damage the character takes, physical or magical, is halved. If the enemy exploits a weakness they do not get an extra press turn, and the attack is treated as a normal attack. Players cannot get status ailments while guarding. SkipThis skips the character's turn without taking up a press turn. It does take up half though. So, if you had four and you decided to skip a character you would still have four press turns, but if the second character skips her turn as well then you would only have three. EscapeEscapes from the battle. Some battles (IE boss battles) are inescapable. The odds of escape are based off of the active party's luck and th enemy party's luck. If the party fails to escape then it becomes the enemy's turn. --- And that's the basics of battle. Once the battle is over each character gets exp. Characters in the active party get full exp, while characters on the sidelines get half. Once a character levels up you are free to distrubute stat points however you want. You get three per level. Stats max out at 99. Game OverThis happens when the entire active party's HP reaches 0. The game itself isn't over, but the situation will change drastically. Try not to die, the results may not be desireable. Everything else should be either self-explainitory or explained more in-game. Though, if that's not the case don't hesitate to ask questions. So is this something everyone wants to do? If so, I'll write up the opening post. I'm just too tired to do so right now. >_> <_<

Part 1: New World
It had probably been around three months since the incedent, thought it was hard to tell. The end of the world tends to make one lose sense of time. Time hardly seems to matter when every day people have to struggle to simply live. Gensokyo could hardly be called Gensokyo anymore. Where there was once green grass, trees and abundant life there was simply a vast wasteland.
For the shrine maiden Reimu Hakurei more was on her mind that just finding her next meal. This apocalypse weighed heavy on her concience because she couldn't help but feel that it was all her fault. There were many signs of impending doom. The first was the hotspring that just appeared out of nowhere near the Hakurei Shrine. Spirits were constantly pouring out of it, but she didn't think anything of it. Then three different youkai told her that she should head underground. They couldn't quite explain why Reimu needed to go down there, they just said there was a vague threat. Reimu didn't think anything of it. Then a hell raven came out from underground and completely obliterated Gensokyo.
That raven, Utsuho she called herself, had such a strange and powerful ability that Reimu had never seen before. Honestly, she had no idea what was going on until it was much too late. Utsuho had apparently recieved a powerful gift from the goddess of the mountain, Kanako Yasaka. Reimu would never understand what went through that goddess' mind. Why would she give a lesser youkai the power of the sun, a kind of power that many people could only dream of? Did she honestly think that beat wouldn't want to take over the world? Did she think it would just sit there and let it be used for whatever sick purpose Kanako wanted to use it for?
Yes, it was Kanako's fault, not Reimu's. Even if she did act, what chance did she have against a power that was capable of obliterating all of Gensokyo in a matter of minutes? If Kanako hadn't been blatantly stupid then none of this would have happened! Those toughts were the only thing that kept her sane all this time. However, that was not enough to prevent her for feeling bad about not doing anything. She was the shrine maiden of the Hakurei Shrine. She solved everyone's problems, yet she didn't even try to prevent this disaster. The landscape and the sun were constant reminders of this.
The sun never set in the new Gensokyo, which made it even easier to lose track of time, not that time really mattered anymore. Not only did the sun never set, there was this giant red eye-ball floating in the sky. It resembled the one on Utsuho's chest, or at least Reimu was pretty sure it did. She wasn't actually able to get a decent look at her. The eye was still closed. Utsuho said that she would return when the eye was fully open. Apparently her "plan" wouldn't come to fruitation until then. Since that day, the raven hadn't been seen.
Reimu didn't know how long they had until Utsuho returned. As much as she wanted to find the raven before she could completely take over Gensokyo, living was higher on her list of priorities. The incident not only killed many people, but dried up many of the rivers and other bodies of water. Plants didn't grow as easily either. Finding food and water was very difficult, but Reimu had finally found a few reliable sources. She might be able to make a move soon. She wasn't quite sure what she would do at first. There were many things she wanted to see. Where was Utsuho? How many people lived? What the heck was Kanako thinking when she gave that raven her powers?
She wasn't sure where she was going to go, but she felt like it was time to leave. Most of her adventures turn out that way. If she just beat up a few random people the real culprit would probably show herself. Reimu decided to grab a few items to take with her.

When Reimu left the shrine she noticed two familiar faces approaching. Both Marisa Kirisame and Alice Margatroid survived the apocalypse! This was great news. So great, that Reimu thought she was going to cry. She had honestly never been so happy in her life.
[Marisa] "Hey, Reimu ~ze!" Marisa waved.
She looked as cheerful (and filthy) as ever. Reimu envied her ability to stay happy and carefree in any situation. Alice didn't seem nearly as happy. In fact, she looked downright tired. But, somehow she still seemed like herself. Even her dolls, Shanghai and Hourai, were floating behind her. It figures that even after the end of the world that Alice would keep her dolls with her. She needed them more than ever now as those were her main sources of power. Without them, she wouldn't be able to fight nearly as well.
[Reimu] "I'm so glad you two are alright!" Reimu ran towards the pair.
[Marisa] "Same here ~ze."
[Alice] "So where were you running off all by yourself Reimu?"
[Reimu] "Honestly, I'm not sure. I figured that I would figure that out later."
[Alice] "Honestly Reimu, you can't be that careless anymore! The world is a very differnet place."
[Reimu] "So I've noticed. I guess you could say that I'm just not sure where to start."
[Alice] "That raven said that Kanako Yasaka gave her those powers right? I'd like to know what the heck that woman was thinking!"
[Marisa] "Yeah, but didn't Utsuho also say that she was going to come back when that eye opened? We need to find her as quickly as possible ~ze!"
[Reimu] "I agree, but she was able to wipe out Gensokyo in just a couple of minutes. We should make sure we're prepared before we do too much."
Marisa and Alice joined the party!

[Reimu] "Have either of you seen anyone else?" [Marisa] "No ~ze..." Marisa just looked away. Something seemed to be bothering her. [Alice] "...These past few months have been hard. The Forest of Magic is crawling with strange creatures that neither of us have seen before. They look kind of like fairies, but I don't think you could call those creatures fairies. They don't even look alive. Leaving our homes is actually dangerous now, so just finding food is becoming an adventure in itself. We haven't been able to search yet." Reimu felt a little better now, but she couldn't help but feel that she could have done a little more, even if she didn't stop this disaster from happening. She was the shrine maiden of the Hakurei Shrine, people depended on her to fix their problems, and she couldn't even bother to see if they were alive. Sure she had her own problems, but it's not like she didn't have problems before Utsuho decided to destroy Gensokyo. It seemed like Marisa felt the same way. [Reimu] "I see...Well, let's go see how everyone's doing. Better late than never right?" Reimu smiled. She wasn't really all that happy, but this wasn't the time for her, or anyone else, to wallow in their own self-pity. However, she wasn't really sure where she should start looking. While Gensokyo was practically a parking lot now (whatever that is), it was still huge. Reimu rubbed her chin and thought for a moment. Who would likely be alive? She didn't really want bad news right now, so she didn't want to go anywhere that might have a high body count. She couldn't quite explain why, but the more she thought the more she thought that they should go to the Scarlet Devil Mansion. [Reimu] "I think we should go to the Scarlet Devil Mansion." [Alice] "Why there? I still want to give Kanako a piece of my mind!" [Marisa] "Will that really do anything ~ze?" [Alice] "No, but it'll certainly make me feel better!" [Reimu] "...I don't think this is the time to say things like that Alice." Alice just looked away and stuck her nose in the air. [Alice] "Humph! Fine! Let's go to the Scarlet Devil Mansion then!" --- The group finally arrived at the misty lake that surrounded the Scarlet Devil Mansion. It was impossible to tell how long the journey took since the sun never set. The red eye in the sky was still shut, so it looked like they still had plenty of time to find Utsuho. But, those things were normal. Something about this lake was rather unsettling. Most of Gensokyo was a charred ruin now, but there was still green grass and flowers around the lake. Heck, the lake looked the same way it did before the apacalypse. Reimu wasn't sure if she should be happy or afraid. Reimu, Alice and Marisa started to fly across the lake. As usual, a thick fog blanketed the lake, so it was a little hard to see. Reimu had been to the Scarlet Devil Mansion a few times, so she was pretty sure she was heading the right way, but it was hard to tell. The masion was on a rather small island that was easy to miss after all. After about an hour of flying the group heard a familiar voice. [ ] "What are you doing here?! This lake belongs to the fairies!" [Reimu] "I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad to see you Cirno..." [Cirno] "Leave now before I make you leave!" [Marisa] "Well, we wouldn't want that. Cirno, who has mind roughly the size of a walnut. And that's being generous.
Of course, in the traditional Touhou style, Cirno probably won't see any other way but to fight. After all, Cirno still seems like Cirno, so Cirno will still act like Cirno, and of course that means reason is not an option. So, Fight Cirno (Just don't kill her)

Which attacks do you want to use? Just a reminder on how things work these are the actions that you can take while in battle.
Attack - attacks with current weapon, takes no HP or MP
Skill - Skills are listed under the character's name. Info on what it takes to cast them and what they do is also there. For the record, almighty damage is unelemented in case you were wondering.
Item - Uses a consumable item
Switch Character - Not a possible action right now
Guard - Take half damage and negate weaknesses
Skip - Skips the character, only uses half a press-turn
Escape - Not a possible action

Okay, so first you decide the order you want the party members to attack. Make sure you put the names of the attacks in the order you want them to be done because that's the order I'll do them in. If you get an extra press-turn then the next turn you'll get to do an extra attack. If you lose a press-turn then you'll do one less attack this turn. For more on how all that works read the first post.
I think that's everything, so go ahead and decide which skills you want to use.

Oh, I forgot to mention that. She absorbs ice and is weak to fire. Anyway...

Cirno thought for a second before answering. Even though it was an easy question it was still a question. The ice fairy didn't deal well with those.
[Cirno] "No."
[Reimu] "Alright then, take this!"
Reimu smacked Cirno with her gohei and did 9 damage! Reimu felt a little chilly getting that close to the fairy, but nothing bad happened.
[Cirno] "What?! That wasn't fair, I wasn't ready!"
[Marisa] "Well are you ready now?"
Once again Cirno had to think again, but Marisa didn't really feel like waiting and attacked anyway. Zio hit Cirno for 16 damage!
[Cirno] "Stop that!"
[Marisa] "Sorry ~ze~"
Cirno seemed to be ready now, and she was rather upset.
[Alice] "I guess it's my turn now!"
Alice went to smack her with her grimiore, but she missed!
[Marisa] "That was weak ~ze..."

Using a spellcard already? Clearly she wasn't holding back. Several colored hailstones started flying towards the party, but before they reached them they suddenly stopped. The party just looked at them for a moment before they started moving in random directions. It didn't seem like Cirno had any control over this. Cirno hit Marisa for 16 damage! Cirno hit Alice for 13!
Cirno seems to be severly wounded. This might be a good time to ask her any questions you might have. Then again, she may not even be able to answer.

You won't get an answer from a normal Cirno. And you REALLY won't get an answer from an angry Cirno. So, you get an answer (if there is one, if not...oh well, that's out of the way)

Both Marisa and Reimu just looked at her. Marisa successfully managed to not break out into laughter, Reimu was less successful and snickered.
[Reimu] "And I suppose I'm rich"
Alice just crossed her arms and glared at Reimu. Though, as she glanced over there she couldn't help but notice that Marisa seemed a little hungry.
[Alice] "Here."
Alice threw a riceball to Marisa.
[Marisa] "Oh, thanks ~ze!"
Alice was still a little annoyed and embarrased, so she looked away, or at least she tried. She couldn't help but want to glance back at Marisa as she inhaled that riceball. Then she looked away again in utter disgust. How could people eat like that? It made her want to puke. Marisa regained 15 HP!
[Reimu] "Okay, we don't--Er...Cirno, what made you think that we had time for this?!"
Reimu managed to catch herself in the nick of time. Asking the fairy a question pretty much garenteed that she would get a hit, and that was still the case. Reimu hit Cirno for 3 damage!
Cirno looked dizzy. She certainly wasn't dying, but it did look like she wanted to sleep. In fact, she did, right there in mid-air and plummeted towards the lake. Perhaps the lake wasn't completely the same? A couple of attacks wouldn't have been enough to make a fairy pass out before. Perhaps things weren't as normal as they seemed? The water froze the second Cirno hit it, and she seemed to be snoring rather loudly.

The entire group just floated there dumfounded for a few minutes. Sure Cirno wasn't exactly strong, but she wasn't normally this pathetic. Reimu certianly didn't feel any different, but this situation made her feel uncomfortable. Was there something in this fog?
[Marisa] "Should we go check? Maybe she'll have something on her ~ze~
[Reimu] "What was that?"
[Marisa] "Er...Well ya know, we should go down there to see if she's okay?"
Reimu and Alice just looked at each other and tried hard to hold back their laughter.
[Alice] "I don't think fairies normally keep anything valuable on them."
Reimu and Alice burst into laughter and Marisa just blushed and looked away, before she started laughing herself. Even though the world was very different the three of them were still very much the same.
The three of them landed on the sheet of ice Cirno made when she hit the water. The fairy really was just sleeping as they suspected. It also looked like the wounds she recieved during battle had already healed. Not shocking since she was sitting on a block of ice, and ice fairies heal faster in the cold. Marisa immediatly started to search the fairy's body. Of course, she was careful not to actually touch it, and did any flipping she needed to do with her broom.
[Marisa] "Oi, I found something! And you thought fairies wouldn't keep anything valuable on them ~ze."
Marisa was holding up a small, round saphire. Obtained Saphire x1!
[Marisa] "Didn't see anything else ~ze. Let's keep going."

After defeating Cirno the other fairies seemed to avoid the group, so they were able to get to the Scarlet Devil Mansion fairly quickly. After flying over the island for a minute or two the fog cleared, and the group stopped once they saw the area. The grass was green, the flowers were blooming, and the mansion was still in tact. Everything looked exactly the same, it was like Utsuho's magic never reached this area. It wasn't only the building that looked the same, the door guard Hong Meirin was sleeping at the gate as usual. Are they even aware of what happened to Gensokyo?

Odd how it appears that nothing has happened here...but, we must see if this is really true. Of course, it would be quite heartless to NOT wake up Chi--HONG, so waking her up would be the best thing to do. And then talking to her, of course.
