Let me tell you a story about how the original layout of Gensokyo was created. One day I was like "I want to participate in a Touhou RP." I looked around, but I couldn't really find any that were work safe anyway. As I am not really into RPing sex, I decided to create my own. I had a bunch of ideas for codes, I only ended up keeping the weather codes, but that's another story. Anyway, when I went to put everything into a top table it uh...didn't fit.
So I had a choice to make: keep trying to make it fit and potentailly make the site hard to naviage, or I could use side-tables. I eventually chose side-tables (as you can probably tell), but then I ran into another problem. When I make skins I think about how they will look on other screen resolutions, and I frequently test them on other resolutions if I'm not feeling really lazy. Well, I don't like making my forum stretch 800 x 600 resolutions, and my banner was a whopping 728 pixels. That obviously didn't give me any room for side tables, so I decided to put the side-tables under the banner. I'm also OCD, so I had to have side tables on both sides of the forum or I would go insane. Well, that gave me very little space for the forum as well. I think the forum width is around 400 pixels because of all this.
tl;dr: stuff happened and the forum ended up really skinny.
So citizens of Gensokyo I have a question for you all!
Does the skinniness of the forum bother you? Do you like it better skinny? Should I re-do that layout and make it...uh not skinny? Should I stop asking weird poll questions based off of things I either get rated about or just randomly think about? Will I ever be happy with the way my forums look?
All these questions and more will be answered in two weeks when the poll closes. The thread will stay open so people are welcome to complain about the poll result after the poll is locked.
