Of course as part of the suns path it rises and it sets upon the horizons. However, at this time of day, the sun had started the intro to it's ending and was already moving it's way past the horizon. Soon darkness would fall upon the land and more people would return to their houses. However, while darkness fell and brought most to sleep, it was of no concern to the young blond haired man traveling down the path. His body was covered in a torn cloak that did well to hide his figure besides his eyes. He looked quite suspicious, but then again, the border was indeed a questionable area for there to be appearances and thus the creating of legends.
As the boy walked on his blond hair did slightly cover his eyes as it swayed back and forth. He didn't look lost, more it just looked like he was wandering aimlessly. He had no general direction to go, which of course was irritating for him, but nobody needed to know that detail. He, on the other hand, knew full well that he was in the hopeless position of needed a place to head to. He slowly looked around, noticing that most families had turned in for the rest of the night. It was slightly problematic, to earn his place amongst his fellow kind, he was supposed to evaluate people...even if it didn't count just yet.
The boy let out a small sigh as he shrugged his shoulders. He slid his back down a tree as he finally tilted his head to look up at the beautiful sight of the borders between his realm and the untouched... It was different, seeing something that separated him from a whole different universe, however, thanks to who knows what, his kind was able to go around wherever the pleased. Another upside.
"Hell, this place is annoying me. Of course when I finally went out and designed a wooden plaque big enough to evaluate these humans, they're all not around." Nowe hung his head after saying such words aloud. "I don't even know why they sent me to this forsaken area anyways. I'm still in training!"
Of ourse he wasn't too pleased, but he still knew that duties were duties, and he had to fufill this one... If he did, he'd finally be able to become the full rank of his kind... It was an expectation that he looked forward to... desperately.

((I'm assuming you wanted to RP with the canon yama, but if I was wrong then let me know and I'll bring another in.))
Sikieiki didn't quite understand why Gensokyo needed another yama. There never seemed to be an excess amount of souls being sent to Higan, so she could handle her workload just fine. In fact, she found that she had a pretty good amount of free time to speak to the living. Though, having more time to warn the living couldn't possibly be a bad thing, so she didn't complain about the extra help. The only downside was that the yama moral code was fairly difficult to understand. In fact, each one seemed to have their own. That meant that this new one would have to figure his code on his own. Eiki could help a bit, but if her ideas didn't make any sense to him they wouldn't help him very much.
They had apparently decided to go to a small town on the border. It was rare to see humans gather outside of the human village, but a few smaller towns did exist. It seemed like it would be a lot easier to handle a smaller group of humans than a larger one, though it didn't really matter much. Really, she would just let him choose where he wanted to practice. Though, it was easier to judge when the souls were nearby, so she would always recommend populated areas. Let's see, he was supposed to be around here somewhere...Ah there he was.
"Most of us frown upon using 'hell' in such a way. It's a realm of eternal damnation, not a vulgar slang term. And I'm not sure how a plaque will help you judge at all, so you'll want this," she handed him a small hand-mirror, it was about the size of her face. "This mirror will let you see anyone's past. They cannot hide anything from you, if you want to see something then you can see it. This mirror can only be used by you, if anyone else tries to look in it they will only see their reflection," she paused. "If you would like to go somewhere else we can. It doesn't really matter where we go, though I do recommend that we at least stay near humans. It makes judging them easier. However, I do recommend that you change your wardrobe. You look more like a theif than a divine being," she sighed. "Anyway, since we're here what do you think of," she looked around, "That human?"
There was a small child running into her house with her parents. It seemed like he should start with a young human instead of an older one since they had less experiences to consider.

Of course after having made his remarks of the current situation, he wasn’t actually expecting a reprimand, nor was he expecting her to be so close. Nowe sat up quickly as he heard the female voice address the term he had used to describe how it felt to be there right now. He looked up in astonishment as he slowly shut his eyes and nodded a little. Of course he wasn’t too happy that she was scolding him on such a small issue, he still figured it’d be better to listen to those who were in the higher position.
Yes... yes... I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to use it so out of how it should have been... guess it just slipped.” He slowly stood up, listening to her comment about his plaque. Of course what he had thought was a good idea had already been thrown aside and she already moved from there to make comments on his clothes. He let out a sigh, taking the mirror as he watched her for a moment. He finally felt the urge to stop her nagging of every little thing that he did, but as he was going to he noticed her ask the question of the small girl.
Nowe’s eyes stared off to the child as she followed after her parents. Nowe tilted his head as he slowly looked back to his mentor. “What can you possibly find from asking me about her? She’s much too young to die, she has yet to learn the true values of right and wrong and different things like that... If she were to die by some change, I’d send her straight to the good end of things.” He spoke with the utmost confidence, not even for a moment was he wavering on his decision upon where he thought the young child should go. He slowly sighed, turning his head to her.
“For the matter of clothes, if you’re so against these clothes then you could at least help me pick out what -to- wear. I had no idea what human trends are these days and such, why would I take note? So, since you apparently know, how about we go and look about?” Though his offer seemed rather like he was unpleased, he still did wish to go around to the places that the humans owned. He was rather curious and having company of his own fellow kind seemed more entertaining than being alone.

Hm, perhaps she should have gone a little easier on the poor trainee. She thought she was being relatively gentle so far, but he seemed displeased at the moment. Sikieiki just believed that her own kind should be near perfect, so naturally if she found anything about him (or anyone else for that matter) she would let him know. Well, she could try to tone that part of her down a little bit for now, though it has sort of become habitual and she's never been good at making things sound better than they really are. Eiki was a rather blunt person after all.
His observations on that girl were rather interesting. He was right, she definatly had not lived long enough to make moral judgements. She had not lived long enough to do any evil, or good for that matter. And that's exactly what made that girl such an interesting target. Eiki disagreed with him, she would not send that girl to heaven. He seemed to forget that there weren't only two options for human after life. Heaven and Hell were just the two places many humans thought more about, though there was a third very common one: reincarnation. That's what Sikieiki would do to the girl.
"I see. So if a saint who had a done a lifetime of good deeds and that child died would their afterlives be the same?"
And that was why she would give the child another chance at life. She hadn't proven herself yet. Children could grow up to be almost anything, and while there were signs of how they would act when they were older they were still very unpredictable. Eiki had made that mistake once, and that child didn't turn out like she had expected.
"Hm? I am not familiar with human fasion either. My clothing is strictly ceremonial."
She had worn this outfit for as long as she can remember. It didn't get dirty, so she didn't have to worry about its clenliness getting in the way of her work. Though, sometimes she wished the skirt was a little longer so people would stop making lewd comments about her legs.
"When people see a yama coming they should not feel like they have to lock their doors and bolt down their possesions, they should be happy," she paused. "I suppose it is because as you judge humans you observe how they look and the type of clothing they wear. You currently lack that experience, so you would not know. I apologize for worrying about such trivial things."
