Chen defines herself almost entirely around what pleases her mistress Ran and is therefore completely subservient to the kitsune. By herself, however, she is happy-go-lucky and extremely curious (being a cat). Together with her army of cats (some Youkai, some normal) she protects Mayohiga from intrusion. She has an affinity for cats and is capable of speaking with them. Oftentimes she may display catlike behavior as well.

Chen retains many of her natural feline abilities such as her superb reflexes and her extremely sharp hearing. She can also shapeshift into a cat at will although she cannot pass for a normal cat as she has two tails even in cat form. In both forms she is capable of speaking to cats and she has full control of all the cats in Mayohiga, although she has not been seen controlling those outside.
Fighting style:
"Red Oni Blue Oni"
As a nekomata Chen has great strength and agility, although less than that of Yukari and Ran. She possesses formidable magical abilities which were taught to her by her mistress.
Unfortunately she is not very intelligent and relies on either her mistress or Yukari for tactical direction in combat. As a cat, she is instantly distracted by catnip, and she is less able to control herself in the face of her weakness than Ran due to her lack of experience. She is also vulnerable to water, both as a shikigami and as a cat.
