Since xx month of xxxx year I, Aya Shameimaru, have been exploring Gensokyo's boundry. There's been a rumor floating around the Human Village for several months now, and naturally I had to investigate it. The humans think that now that most humans are as strong as most youkai that the weaker youkai are now seeking humans they can actually beat and eat. What kind of humans are those? The ones in the outside world of course. The humans in the outside world don't live around youkai so they never learned how to fight them. I've also heard that they've created devices so they don't even have to work anymore, but I cannot confirm this.
At first, I'll admit, I thought this rumor was really silly. First of all the Hakurei border that seperates Gensokyo from the outside world is mostly impeneterable. Occasionally some things from the outside world find there way here, and I've heard that humans can return to the outside world by going through the Hakurei Shrine, but thos are the only two cases I've heard of things crossing the border. Where these objects and people from the outside world appeared when they crossed the border seemed to be completely random, however I've heard that the only way back across the boundry was though the Hakurei Shrine with the help of the resident shrine maiden Reimu Hakurei.
I spoke to the Happy Shrine Maiden of Paradise on xx day, though I don't dare publish what she said to me. I believe this picture I took sums up the entire conversation perfectly.
Needless to say she was rather displeased that I was accusing her of sending youkai to the outside world to feed on the innocent, powerless humans on the other side. Her words were...Rather convincing to put it mildly. It's quite clear that the Hakurei Shrine has nothing to do with this rumor. So, I continued to search for the truth behind this rumor. Reimu only confirmed the things I already knew, most notably that the border is impeneterable.
So, what in Gensokyo was making these humans think that youkai that can't even beat up a human could cross an impeneterable boundry? What if someone saw something that no one else knew about yet? So, being the thurough investigater I am, I explored the border. It was surprisingly difficult to explore it. It was very easy to get lost, and occasionaly when I did get lost I would appear somewhere else. For example, on xx day I was exploring the south, but when I finsihed exploring I was on the northern part of the boundry. This didn't happen that frequently, but it is still worth noting. I believe this only happened when I wasn't near the Hakurei Shrine and I was getting close to where the boundry actually was, though I cannot confirm this. All I can confirm was that I was never actually able to see the boundry no matter how hard I tried.
While I was exploring I also kept an eye out for youkai. I encountered a fair amount of faries, though I didn't find anymore during my exploration than I would expect to see. It also seemed like they just lived there and they didn't appear to be making any effort to find the border let alone cross it. I did find a few stronger youkai, though none of them seemed interested in crossing the border, but I did not find any lesser youkai besides the fairies. So, after my investigation I have concluded that this rumor is nothing more than human arrogance.
