It was winter in Gensokyo. Snow gently fell from the sky, covering everything in a blanket of white. Most of the water had been frozen as well. Everything was peaceful... Except for one place. This particular place, was the Scarlet Devil Mansion. However, the lack of peace was not a bad thing... No, far from it. Actually, there just happened to be a party there. Remilia was hosting a grand feast, and many people had been invited. Well... Actually, very few people had been actually "invited" The others had simply been fated by Remilia to end up at the mansion. The only ones Remilia had bothered to send invitations to were Reimu Hakurei and Yuyuko Saigyouji. Yuyuko's invitation had extended to Youmu however. Yuyuko had of course been drawn to the idea of food, despite that there had been a warning that if she ate so much the other guests wouldn't get anything, then there would be consequences. Reimu probably would come, saying that she just wanted to keep an eye on all the youkai, while actually just being her lazy self who actually wanted to go to the party. Suika would doubtlessly tag along as well. Remilia had at least been sure to fate that Reimu wouldn't be in genocide mode when she got to the party... That wouldn't have been a good thing. Remilia always made sure to do that when dealing with the shrine maiden. She was lazy, but she also had a tendency to try and exterminate youkai... Many who had suffered her wrath hadn't had the job finished, such as Rumia and Nazrin, others... Not so much. Remilia was rather surprised however, when Letty Whiterock of all people came to the party. That was unexpected, and Remilia hadn't fated her to come... Strange. Regardless, she wasn't unwelcome. There was more than enough food in the mansion to feed all of Gensokyo for a year if Yuyuko didn't binge, and far more space than would have been thought even looking upon the huge structure from the outside. As expected, Marisa Kirisame had come to crash the party as well, despite not having been invited... Remilia had actually counted on that, expecting it. No doubt Yukari would be coming as well, seeing as how it was nighttime, and she had been known to come to parties without being invited in the past... The mansion's librarian, Patchouli Knowledge, was extremely apprehensive about Marisa's presence however. She watched the black-white witch carefully, making sure that she didn't wander off into the library. She didn't want her books stolen again... And fate had happened to be on her side, saying that she had very good health today. And would likely be able to destroy Marisa completely if she tried anything. At some point, a blizzard began raging outside. Reimu wasn't here yet, but pretty much everyone else was... Including Suika. Who naturally, was drinking lots and lots of sake, and sampling all kinds of different alcohol. After all, even unlimited sake only does so much. Sometimes, some new taste works out pretty well. Everyone enjoyed the feast, and talked with each other, while listening to the music that was mysteriously playing in the background. The song playing at the moment was a beautiful piano rendition of a song that Remilia loved... And had actually chosen as her own theme song of sorts.

Percival quirked his eyebrow at the gathering. Granted, he felt somewhat ashamed at having being so rude as to crash a party, but he did wish to see this. "So, this is the Scarlet Devil Mansion, owned by Lady Remilia? I do like it, quite elegant." Percival muttered, as his eyes roamed. Perhaps he ought to see about talking to the host, though after mulling the idea over, he decided not to... yet.

Remilia began to realize just how many more guests she'd drawn than she'd intended. And strange ones at that... Just as the first song ended, and another, orchestral one, began, another guest walked in... Was that a pumpkin pie? Remilia honestly had to be quite startled. How exactly did a pumpkin pie tsukumogami come into being? Several guests began to fight over who would get to eat it. Among them were Suika, Marisa, Okuu, (Who Remilia also wasn't sure how she'd arrived. Nor Orin for that matter...) and of course, Rumia. As danmaku flew around, many more guests ended up involved, until finally, it was simply a free-for-all between nearly everyone. Remilia sighed. So bothersome... Just as she was about to attempt to get everyone's attention and stop the brawl, something happened that made her stop. The pie youkai, who somehow hadn't been successfully eaten yet, appeared to be... Turning into a gigantic jack-o-lantern. Which got everyone to stop fighting as they stared up at it... Well, almost everyone. Marisa had just unleashed a Master Spark, sending a number of guests flying through a wall, before this happened. Suika came charging out of the hole toward her, even with the gigantic thing in the middle fo the room. It looked as if those two would never stop brawling... Well, Suika was drunk, and it wasn't as if Marisa would ever stop a fight right in the middle. However, then Yuyuko came floating in, from behind Remilia, who greeted her. "Why hello Yuyu. How nice to see you." The ghost princess ignored her however, saying, "Do I smell pumpkin pie?" Slowly, she drifted toward the jack-o-lantern, and then... Swallowed it whole. Somehow. Remilia wasn't entirely sure what happened, the ghost's jaw simply unhinged and ate the entire thing in one swallow. This was about at the time that Youmu was coming in. The half-ghost promptly facepalmed upon seeing this sight. "Oh no..." Remilia had to say, this entire thing was quite amusing, even if a hole had ended up forming in her wall due to it... Well, no doubt Sakuya would patch it up. For now, the majority of the guests stared at Yuyuko in horror, as if unable to comprehend what had happened. "What?" asked the ghost princess, as if she'd done something entirely normal when she'd horrified everyone. Satori Komeiji over in the corner of the room looked slightly sick... Meanwhile, Marisa and Suika were still brawling, and Yuugi Hoshiguma had joined in. Remilia sighed. Hopefully Inu will deal with those three...

Percival blinked, that was... odd to say the least. He pulled out his small notebook and made a notation of the event. Are all of her social gatherings so... unorthodox? Percival mused, looking on at the continuing events. He shook his head to clear his thoughts a little, before beginning to write again. He began to wander a bit, once in a while jotting down something else. He lifted his nose up from his notebook, and realized he'd gotten a bit closer to Remilia than he'd wanted to.
"Oh my, didn't wish to get so near. Although..." Percival muttered, trailing off. He took a deep breath, before approaching her. "Good evening, Madame." Percival stated, giving a slight bow.

Remilia noticed as one of the guests, who she recognized from the shrine the other day, and as one of the few who hadn't gotten involved in the brawl, approached her. He appeared to be writing down something in a notebook, and not even paying attention to where he was going. Remilia looked at him curiously. What was he doing?
However, then he looked up, and commented about being closer than he'd intended. Remilia raised an eyebrow, "Oh?" However, then he approached, bowing slightly, as he said, "Good evening, Madame." Remilia simply responded, "Good evening to you as well. I am sure you know of me, Remilia Scarlet, mistress of this mansion. And may I ask your name?" While he was being so polite, and not any sort of problem, she would be polite as well. After all, there was no need to be rude to guests... Not if they weren't being rude first.
Remilia still noticed what was happening apart from her conversation with this man. A somewhat calmer song had come on, in an attempt to calm down the guests. Somewhat futile, but the music was quite good, so it didn't matter. Byakuren was wandering around, healing those who had been injured in the little brawl that had taken place. Marisa and the oni were still fighting though, much to the annoyance of other guests. A coordinated attack was being led on the three brawlers by a few of the other guests, and it appeared that it would not be long before they were subdued. Even ones such as them could only withstand so much punishment. Remilia made sure that nothing too disastrous would happen to any of them. After all, this was meant to be a party... And the guests would resume enjoying themselves once the annoyances were taken care of.
The young vampire was somewhat surprised that Sakuya hadn't taken care of it already to tell the truth however. Then again, she supposed that even one such as her could only be expected to do so much so quickly. Her power over time was not infinite after all. Remilia didn't feel like using her own power to make things mysteriously happen to clean things up either.
For one thing, using fate to create strange anomalies was not something she cared to attempt to do with her power. Such direct uses were tiring, and she only used them for emergencies. Not to mention that they occasionally threw different things out of balance, and it could be yet more annoying to find and correct such problems... Perhaps the strange and twisted fate of that other visitor to her mansion a while back had been a side effect of one such usage of her power.
In addition, Remilia disliked such direct methods in and of themselves. They were tiresome. Controlling every detail of reality around her would take the fun out of everything, precisely why she hadn't stopped the brawl herself. Though it was necessary to prevent Flandre from killing people... It was odd, how so many strange whims involved destruction. Remilia at least had enough restraint to be civilized, and she enjoyed it, but the same could not be said of her younger sister.

Kitria walked in, having just arrived. A calm song was on. She had longed to meet Remilia, whom she had read so much about. And now she had the chance.
Looking around, she saw a young man and a child in pink. The child had bat wings, so Kitria thought that this must be the legendary Scarlet Devil.
"Hello," she said as she stepped in, listening to the calm music which she rather enjoyed.
--
Saeryin was hiding under a large table, with her Protective Shadow surrounding her. She had gone in to grab a ruby for her katana that didn't have one, but then she'd heard footsteps and hid fast. And more people were coming. This was bad. All she could do for now was hide with the stolen ruby in hand, her katanas at her side should anyone find her.

"My name is Percival, good lady. I would like to say that you throw quite the... eventful social event. Never the less, quite enjoyable. Oh, right, I must apologize for crashing this party, it's only the polite thing to do of course." Percival stated, before noticing the new arrival. His left eyebrow quirked a bit, before going back down.
"Good day, Miss. I apologize if this offends you, but it's a bit rude to interrupt a person's conversation." Percival chided, his tone light. He picked up his notebook and wrote a bit more into it, upon seeing the coordinated effort being launched to halt Marisa and company.

A new guest had just walked in, and Remilia noticed her approaching. As the man, Percival, finished complimenting her about the party, and apologized for crashing it, the newcomer interrupted. Percival chided her, and Remilia agreed, "If you wish to talk with someone, I am certain that one of the other guests would be happy to socialize with you. Aside from that, welcome."
She then returned her gaze to Percival, "Don't worry about crashing the party. I organized it with the intention of as many guests as possible appearing. Few people got direct invitations. I have my ways of making sure that guests appear~"
Before the conversation could continue, Remilia heard a LOUD declaration. A spellcard declaration. By Marisa. "Magic Space~ Asteroid Belt!" Remilia immediately turned her gaze back to Percival, and said, "Excuse me for a moment." She then rapidly flew toward Marisa, dodging as she went. As soon as she was as close as she could possibly get during the spellcard, she unleashed a powerful blast of danmaku toward Marisa, even while shouting, "Enough!" The spellcard ended very quickly with all that Remilia sent.
She then called out, "Everyone, stop fighting!" Even the drunk oni stopped to look up at her. "If there are any more disturbances such as this, that might impede the enjoyment of other guests, I assure you, that whoever does so will find themselves being removed from this party. Very, very quickly, and painfully. This has been taken too far. You can go off to the side and have a friendly spellcard duel if you wish, but do not disturb the other guests. That is all."
Everyone took the hint. Marisa and the oni did apparently want to continue fighting, but it was more restrained, and far enough away from the other guests that it was not an issue, as all danmaku faded before hitting anyone else.. Remilia then calmly walked back toward Percival, and said, "Now, where were we?"
Meanwhile, Rumia was searching around, looking for more stuff to eat. It wasn't entirely sure why she wasn't chattering with Yuyuko about favorite foods... Though really, most of Rumia's were meat. Human meat being pretty far up there, but she was rather weak, and often had to settle for animals... Not youkai ones though. Those would eat HER. ...How exactly she hadn't been eaten yet anyway was still quite a mystery though. Perhaps the same phenomenon that had occurred to Mystia Lorelei, resurrection after being eaten, had happened to her at some point.
Regardless, right now, she was crawling under the tables, somehow having missed all the food that was on top of them. After getting answers of basically "No." when she'd asked a number of people if she could eat them, some of those answers being somewhat violent, she'd stopped bugging other guests though.
At some point, Rumia bumped into another, thick shadow underneath the table. She looked at it curiously, before poking it. Then, she asked, "Can I eat you?" Of course, she'd already forgotten that she had planned on not bothering with that question. Oh well, she hoped that the answer was yes~

Akane had been cleaning up some spilt blood at this time, though whether the blood was from a drink of some sort or a guest who had gotten in the line of fire earlier was unclear. Either way, it was her duty to lick it up lest someone else hurt themselves. So there she crouched on all fours, wiping up some of the blood while another, somewhat deja-vu-looking but unfamiliar maid was cleaning some of it with a washcloth.
Of course, it did feel a little embarassing for Augen to be dressed like this. Usually the short skirt and apron wouldn't have been a bother, but when you gotta get on all fours things just seem a little... wrong. Still, Rikako said that such a large gathering of youkai might be a concern. This was an important undercover mission, and Augen would not let himself screw it up. So he just scrubbed away at the spilt blood with his washcloth.

"I'm sorry," Kitria said to the young man and Remilia. "I'm Kitria, by the way."
She was about to talk more to the legendary Remilia when she heard a female voice call out "MAGIC SPACE - ASTEROID BELT!"
Remilia then flew toward some guests that Kitria had previously been unable to see in crowd, and Kitria decided to look around for food. When she had found some sushi with no vegetables and at last turned to look back at Remilia, the fight was over.
"Mind if I join in?" she asked Remilia and the young man. "I'd love to know as much as I can about this mansion."
--
Suddenly, a girl dressed in black with short yellow hair bumped into Saeryin. For reasons unknown she started to poke her. "Stop that!" Saeryin hissed, trying to be as quiet as she could.
"Can I eat you?" the girl asked.
"Can I eat you?!" What sort of a question was that, Saeryin thought to herself. The answer, of course, was no, this person could NOT eat her. And yes, Saeryin did make a point of it.
"No!" she hissed in the same quiet, yet annoyed, voice.
"And for that matter, tell no one I'm here!"

Percival frowned, the girl... Kitria, was it, didn't seem to realize that attempting to barge back into the conversation was a repeat of earlier. "Miss... Kitria, you are repeating your previous action. Now, I very politely told you it was rude to interrupt another person's conversation, and this event is slightly different. However, we neither asked nor indicated that we wished for you to join in." Percival stated, his voice firm.
Turning back to Remilia, Percival clapped softly. "That was a spectacular way of ending the conflict. In so far as the Danmaku... I found it to be quite beautiful. A new topic of conversation... I'd rather not monopolize the suggestions for that. What would you like to talk about, Lady Remilia?" Percival asked.

Remilia was slightly annoyed at how the girl was trying to force herself into the conversation, ignoring what they'd said earlier. Remilia was about to chide her again, but was interrupted by Percival before she could do so. She simply settled for giving a rather disapproving glare at Kitria as Percival spoke.
Once he was done, he said that the danmaku had been quite beautiful, though he didn't state whether he was referring to Remilia's or Marisa's... Remilia decided to take the credit for that in her own mind however. She did her best to make sure that even her simple blasts of overpowering crimson were quite beautiful~
Although, at this point, the orchestra started playing a song that had NOT been scheduled... Ironically, one that was universally considered as one of Marisa's theme songs. Remilia struggled to keep her annoyance from showing. How DARE those fairies in the orchestra interrupt from her glory without permission!
...Though she had to concede, the song itself was quite amazing. She decided that she wouldn't punish them. Music was music after all, and she wouldn't be a very good host if she didn't allow a bit of variety in the music. After all, some people might not want to listen to the same thing constantly.
Percival then asked what Remilia would like to talk about. The young vampire of fate paused a moment, thinking. Finally, she said, "Well, I'm curious about what you think about the party so far. The refreshments, the decorations, the music, are they to your liking? Or perhaps, what do you believe the most important part of an event such as this would be?" She was curious of what her guests thought of the entire thing. Though, part of it was trying to retrieve praise for herself.
Of course, even asking the question, she couldn't avoid putting her own opinions in. "Of course, I believe that the music is the most important part. Of course, everything adds up to create the perfect party, and it can be acceptable with no sound other than the idle banter between guests, but the music is far more important than anything else in my opinion. I put my personal attention in making sure that the orchestra was able to play the instruments perfectly, and looked into what they should play for the party."
It had been difficult to find someone who had the patience to teach fairies of all things how to play instruments, but Remilia had of course done so. And she'd found music for them to play, listening to it to see what she enjoyed most... Though, she didn't recall the song that was playing now being made available to them. How odd...
Rumia cocked her head when the shadow repeated her question back to her. "Hey, that's what I'm asking you, you don't get to ask me back!" The voice responded "No!" before telling her not to tell anyone she was there. "Why not?" Rumia asked back... Then, "Oh, are you playing hide and seek? Can I play too?!" She jumped up and down like a little girl, but she ended up hitting her head on the table. "Oww..."

Obviously Kitria wasn't going to get through to Remilia just by talking. And she'd been so polite when she'd asked to join in the conversation...
While she ate her sushi, she wrote a note to Remilia saying that she'd been anxious to meet her and learn about the mansion, and that she liked her quite a bit and wanted to get to know her. When she was done eating, she placed the note on Remilia's place at the table, hoping she would find it. She just wanted to make friends...
--
"Shh!" Saeryin hissed. "This is no child's game of hide-and-seek! I'm doing big, important things!"
She did not dare tell the girl she was stealing. If she did, she would most likely be found out. Just to be safe, she made a fist around the tiny ruby, even though her hand could not be seen anyway through the shadow.
"Now, please leave me alone! What I'm doing is not impor - er...extremely important. So important that no one except me is allowed to know about it!"

Hmm... Odd. Somebody had left a note for the Mistress... Sounds like a good chance to slip away for a short moment. But... if anyone was sure to see through this disguise, it'd be her. Maybe it'd be best to have this girl do it...
"Hey, Akara." "It's Akane." "Oh, sorry... Anyway, somebody left a note for Mistress Remilia over there. Would you be a dear and bring it to her." "Yes! I'll get that done in a jiffy!"
And with that, the pink-haired mage walked off, leaving our undercover agent with a good oportunity to disappear for a while. Let's see, hiding spot hiding spot... The table! And with that thought, Augen slinked into the crowd, only to disappear shortly afterwards beneath the table...
"Mistress Remiiii," Akane called, holding a small note as she ran to her mistress. "Somebody left this note for you." And with a bow the little maid held the note forward for her mistress.

"The party? I find it to be a most impressive affair. You've arranged everything quite artfully, Madam Remilia. And of course, the decor of your Mansion only serves to add to the environment. I find everything to be quite fine. The most important thing to a party... I would have to say the host or hostess. Everything else can be excellent... but a bad host or hostess can ruin everything." Percival stated, before turning.
"Oh, hello there." said Percival, as he saw Akane come into view. He took out his notebook and resumed writing in it for a moment, before tapping his chin with the end of his quill. "Really, quite an interesting place. Working here would be quite the experience, I would guess." Percival remarked absentmindedly, continuing to write.
