"Well, I'm beat. Time to call it a day then..." Honoo recently had a run-in with a massive amount of faeries (and she was one herself, but a fire one) and talked with a Yama, changing her perspective on life...an eventful day indeed. However, she got tired right when she was above the human village, and was too tired to do anything else but land right inside and lay on the ground. Of course, people start to ask what the heck she's doing, and some talk about moving her out, but she (grumpily) refused to move. Of course, certain wicked people do not sleep, and she was discovered by a scouting fairy. She starts to call in a strike squad in order to get Honoo 'delivered'...and forgot to keep her voice down. (Using a cell phone? The heck is that?) Honoo didn't wake up, but the fairy made it sound like some form of military kidnapping....but that was a fairy thing. They shouldn't get involved.
.... Well someone has to get involved, it's an obvious kidnapping.

Ah the human village, it was such a wonderful place. Rurmors flowed as freely as beer did, and you couldn't walk anywhere without seeing either. The tengu village was like that as well, but the humans and the tengu had different rumors, and since Aya was a reporter she obviously wanted to hear both. Besides, the tengu thought the human's rumors were funny too.
Aya was simply walking down the streets listening for any kind of rumor to go on. She had one story that she could write now, but she didn't have any muse at the moment. Instead of beating her head against the wall waiting for the words to come, she simply decided to come to the human village to find more rumors to investigate. She always keeps detailed notes, so once the words did come she should still be able to write that other story without a problem.
Sadly, the human rumors where the same as always. Oh no! Youkai might be trying to destroy the border! Whatever shall we do?! I know this guy, who knows this guy, who knows this guy, who knows this guy who said that he saw an oni come out from underground! Is that where the oni went?! Tengu have only known this for hundreds of years now, but this is clearly news! It was rather infuriating. But, as she walked aimlessly down the streets of the human village she did notice something interesting. There was a little fairy lying in the middle of the street.
The humans walked by the creature confused, and did absolutly nothing to help the poor thing. As she looked around she finally understood why. There were other fairies attacking this one. One versus...Well a lot could hardly be considered fair, so Aya decided to step in. She readied her fan and summoned an exteremly powerful gust of wind to blow those annoying little things away.
Sadly, the blast also knocked over a nearby building. "Uh...I'll pay for that," she laughed nervously.
But now was not the time to worry about such petty things like broken buildings. Rather, she just didn't want to listen to the owner lecture her, but that was unimportant. There was a poor defenseless fairy on the ground! Or something like that. She ran over to it and went to touch it, but managed to stop herself before she did something potentially stupid. This was a fairy, touching it directly could hurt her. So, she grabbed her pen and started poking it. Hopefully that would wake it up.

*poked poked* Good thing Aya had used the pen, her skin temperature was roughly 300*F. Luckily, that strike force was weak. However, the person behind all this is a little too clever for just a tengu to stop her...but alas, it is enough to be forced to make an organized strike force. It requires time...
"......Zzz...zz....Ugh.....!"
She instantly (and suddenly) got up, refreshed enough to note that a building was knocked down. Some form of fight just took place, and shes pretty much knew what was going on.
"Persistent faeries, trying to kill me in my sleep, and in organized groups of all things...oh, who are you?"
((Mysterious Figure: Hm..she appears weak, but a reporter tengu nearby. If we attack, there is a risk of being found. If we don't, we miss out on an opportunity. Or, we can use those new things I picked up from the outside world...Should I? Hm...Kamikaze Mecha Faeries sounds like fun.....nah, I'll pass. Bring out a Wind Faerie Squad and the Elite Fire Faerie Squad, now. Oh, and bring out the Windfire Mecha, just to be safe. Can't let the tengu get away, now can I?)) ((Commander: Yes ma'am!))

Wow, fairies bounce back more quickly than she thought they did. Just a minute ago the fairy had passed out in the middle of the street and now all of a sudden it's fine again. No wonder those little buggers were so hard to kill. They're like cockroaches: annoying and next to impossible to deal with. However, the fairy did not need to know that Aya felt that way.
"Uh...I'm Aya Shameimaru. Reporter of the Bunbunmaru newspaper," she knew some of their kind could read, so there was a chance she might know about it. "Wait, why do those fairies want to attack you?"
Perhaps this trip wasn't a complete waste of time. Aya could see it now: HEADLINE Fairies attack another fairy. Why would fairies attack to kill? How were they able to orgainize like this when they're brains are the size of a grain of rice? These and other questions will be answered in the next edition of the Bunbunmaru newspaper! Don't miss it!

((Mysterious Figure: Ah, the Windfire mecha. Such elegance, being able to shoot high powered wind and fire, or both at the same time, the wind propelling the fire. Such destructive force...Oh, is the Wind Faerie Squad assembled? Give them time to prepare, I know they aren't ready yet. The Elite Fire Faerie Squad is busy as per usual, but they'll be ready. How about we send a quick all-round squad to keep them around?))
Percent: 20%
((Quick Squad Leader Quick Squad, Now with teleporters~)) ((Mysterious Figure: Nice, quicker than even I expected. I want you to mess with dear Honoo a bit, perhaps confound a tengu with these new teleporters.)) ((Quick Squad Leader: Will do, just gotta tell my people to ready up, and we'll be there in a flash ;D))
Quick Strike: 75%
Honoo knew, and well...
"What's a newspaper? I know paper burns though, but I think that's too irrelevant. Oh yeah, I'm a fire fairy."
Yeah...paper burns too easily.
"Why are they attacking me? I would love to know the whole story on that myself. I ran into a bigger group before here, it's why I was exhausted earlier and took an accidental nap in the middle of this place...some lunatic was raving about some Ignis Stone and called me a threat to Gensokyo, not to mention something about a seal before attacking me with...about 500 of the faeries...but yeah, they are usually far more persistent than this display. (she figures things out, that battle was too short)
((Mysterious Figure: So, how is the Makai invasion going?)) ((Tactician: Smooth as silk, as soon as we get to the center, you can confront this other god and...and?)) ((Mysterious Figure: My very power allows me to create my own faith. That world is not much, and the god should be weak. ((Tactician: Perhaps you should take my spot~)) ((Mysterious Figure: I'll plan as much as I need to, but I'm far too busy to do the small things. It's why I have you~))

What's a newspaper? Clearly Aya had set her hopes too high. This was a fairy, they weren't exactly intellegent. And she had the audacity to say that they burn well. It felt like a spear went through her heart. How could anyone think that her hard work was nothing more than firewood?!
Aya didn't really know much about fairies. She simply knew that they were stupid, loved pranks and generally had abilities that related to some form of nature. Fire was part of nature, so she didn't think that was anything unusual.
Aya listened to the fairy very carefully and jotted down some notes. Sadly, she had no idea what this fairy was talking about for the most part. She had never heard of this Ignis Stone, nor did she understand how 500 fairies could ever be that organized. This really was a puzzling case, and it was one that Aya would be more than happy to solve. After all, it would be fun to write about!
"I see...Is it normal for fairies to form large groups like that?" Again, she had limited knowledge about fairies and felt she needed to learn more in order to fully understand what was goind on.

((Quick Squad Leader: Charged?)) ((Quick Squad: Yep! Ready on your signal!)) ((Quick Squad Leader: GO))
Before that is said:
"I know enough about faeries to say that they normally don't form these large groups, they can't even reach an agreement on anything, but in my somewhat special case, they do."
And at the word 'do', the Quick Squad teleports virtually on top of both Honoo and Aya, ready to knock their heads down with a lightning charged swift downward kick. The leader was above Honoo, wearing light armor, engraved with a lightning bolt pattern, the rest were split between Honoo and Aya, more being next to Aya because the leader was next to Honoo. Their kicks are fast. They will also abuse teleporting to avoid most attacks, and get preemptive strikes. All and all, they weren't meant to last long, but to get some while their here. There's 50 of them.
Here's the second Aya has to react to this. Gogogo
(Trained Faeries are more difficult to take out, take this to note.)
((Mysterious Figure: How long until we get to the center?)) ((Commander: 2 hours. Then, we will have a goddess under our control and an easy way to Gensokyo.)) ((Mysterious Figure: Just as planned. How long until the Elite Fire Squad arrives?)) ((Commander: That's what I was here for, milady. They will be ready within the next 10 minutes. The wind squad is almost done preparing.)) ((Mysterious Figure: Hm...Any news on the gods at Gensokyo?)) ((Commander: No, we can't get a mindlink on them. Their minds are too great.)) ((Mysterious Figure: Wait, mindS?)) ((Commander: We were able to figure out 2 major gods are living inside.)) ((Mysterious Figure: Hm. This will be tougher than I thought...))

"What the hell?" Aya shouted as the fairies teleported around them.
Aya's reflexes were fast, but she was no god. There's no way she could dodge such a sudden attack. She could feel the lightning hit her and it knocked her to the ground. Fortunatly she was already squatting, so she didn't have far to fall. But it hurt...A lot. They were annoying before, but now this was personal. Fairies were annoying little creatures weren't they?
Aya did her best to get back onto her feet, but she was still kind of hunched over. The energy sent a pretty serious shock through her system. However, her arms could still move and that's all that really mattered. She swung her fan in a circle and summoned a massive tornado. Sure, it would definatly damage more property, and it might hurt that fire fairy, but it would certainly take care of those other fairies. There was no way in hell that Aya was going to allow herself to lose to a bunch of fairies. She'd be the laughing stock of Gensokyo if that happened.

((Mysterious Figure: Nice, I may have underestimated that squad. I should use them more often...Hey, how's the mech?)) ((Technician: Ready to deploy at any time, ma'am!)) ((Mysterious Figure: And the fire squad, commander?)) ((Commander: They are almost ready to be deployed, all we need to do is brief them and pay them half.)) ((Mysterious Figure: Excellent.))
Progress: 50%
There was no way Honoo even had a chance to react to this, and was promptly sent back to the ground, severely damaged. She got back up though, and proceeded to shoot fireballs at them, but...they kept on teleporting, and all that was happening was houses getting whacked by fireballs, but thankfully they didn't burn...yet. She noticed the tornado though, and managed to get out of its way.
Most of the other faeries reacted instantaneously to Aya's tornado, some not making it (think 'deer in the headlights'), and being blown very far away, while others managed to press their teleport buttons to get out of the way (and a few feet away from Aya, 'can't get that close again or our numbers will go down quicker, and that's not the speed we want' as said by the leader) and deliver a few 'friendly' danmaku barrages.
The humans of the town are panicking though, it was quite the surprise, not to mention somewhat violent. Most flee, some people stay behind in safe places to watch, because no matter how violent it was, it still looked awesome.

Aya looked around the village. She had forgotten that there were actually people around for a moment. There was no need to endanger them because of a stupid fairy squabble. Of course, the ones that didn't care and just wanted to watch could always just follow them and watch anyway.
"Hey...Uh..." Aya realized that she forgot to ask for the fairy's name and just shoock her head at her own stupidity. "Fairy! Follow me!"
Aya felt that she didn't really need to explain why they needed to leave the village, nor did she feel that she had time to explain that to a fairy. She waited a moment so the fairy could actually have time to react and know which direction to go. Then she darted towards the nearest exit. She didn't run as fast as she could since the fairy had to keep up, but she was fast enough that teleporting to her before she stopped would be quite a feat.
Once she was outside the human village and a reasonable distence away she started to slow down and eventually stop. Now she could fight the fairies without having to worry about any humans getting hurt or destroying any more buildings. She probably didn't even have enough money to cover the first building she destroyed let alone the ones that got hit by the tornado. Chances were she would not come to the human village for a few weeks.
Honestly, Aya didn't even want to fight these fairies, she just wanted to know why they were attacking their own kind so viciously. Perhaps she could talk to them? Wait...Did Aya drink too much sake last night or something? Was she seriously considering reasoning with fairies? She tried to do that once, but it didn't go very well. Eh, it was worth a shot.
"Why are you attacking this fairy?!" she shouted at the other fairies. Her voice was rather loud, so she hoped that would be enough to make them stop trying to shock them for a moment.

((Mysterious Figure: Hm...Well, starting the fight while in town was hopefully good enough to mess with some of the peoples minds...Oh well, in case this goes badly, we will have effected the townsfolk. But, I'm hoping that won't happen~)) ((Elite Fire Squad Troop (Messenger): Ready to deploy, your majesty.)) ((Mysterious Figure: Very well. Move the troops in the teleportation chamber, I have to reset the coordinates now...silly machines...oh, I can call them off now.))
Percent: 80%
Honoo was somewhat into the fight (and feeling somewhat better) when she heard Aya, and felt she could trust this...was it a tengu...yeah, a tengu. Memory has been serving badly.
"Sure. Engine go~"
And she was off again, pretty fast, to most people's suprise.
The faeries attempted to deliver a kick to Aya and Honoo, but they were off too fast. They decided to respond to Aya's question, unwittingly. "We get paid for this~. Matter of fact, we will probably get a bonus if we...wait....message...ok, troops, we have done our job here. But...I've always wanted to use this spell card...all troops fall back, I want to test something. <3"
She pulls out a spell card.
Vanish Card: "Sudden Instant Terror"
The other faeries vanish from view as the leader becomes transparent, and shoots a completely normal (the shots are those bubbly shots, the big ones, so normal might be stretching it a bit) danmaku barrage around herself, but...why is the space around you glowing now?
((Mysterious Figure: They still at it? Oh, she has a spell card. She will get extra pay then, for the effort. <3))

Wait, fairies have an actual social structure? Aya was under the impression fairies didn't really care about money. This was absolutely facinating. She had no idea fairies were so...intellegent? No that wasn't the word, but it was the best one she could come up with right now. After all, she was in the middle of a fight.
Now that they were outside of the village Aya could actually fight. The tornado in town was casted simply out of rage. Normally Aya wouldn't fight like that in town at all. However, that attack was fairly weak, as are most of her attacks that she casts purely out of anger. If such a weak attack was actually enough to take some of them out then this attack should finish off the rest easily.
"Peerless Wind God."
Aya used her true speed now. It was practically impossible to see her, all most people could see was the dust clouds she kicked up as she ran. She swung her fan as she ran and kicked up a lot grass and dirt, and said grass and dirt was moving at such high speeds they could be considered danmaku. Aya couldn't actually aim while she was moving this fast, so she made sure to kick up enough grass and dirt that her aim wouldn't even matter.
((In case you're wondering, Peerless Wind God is one of Aya's lunatic spell cards in MoF. It's the one you have to time out.))

Honoo saw what was happening around here, the danmaku was being teleported on TOP of her. She had to react fast (getting graze points ) but then all the sudden Aya was...everywhere. She decided that was NOT the place to be, and flew upward, where she met with... ((Mysterious Figure: Ok, all ready? Then...*press buttons*)) She was promptly met with new troops, and in far greater numbers than that other battle. There were about 1000 faeries (most of them being in a fancy green garb, one being in really fancy light green garb, while others are in a strange blue outfit, with red...things (cannons, but what were those in Gensokyo? Who would know about those...) attached to their arms, with one of them...not being a fairy at all, instead it was...something else. She was covered head to toe in armor, with 2 of those cannons (only longer) attached to both arms. And lastly, a gigantic mechanical beast* dropped from the sky, landing around the area where Aya was. * It, even though it was a mechanical beast, seemed almost alive. The strange non-fairy speaks: "What a cute little thing we have here." Honoo responds with a flamethrower, to no avail. "You didn't think we wouldn't come prepared, did you~?" The apparent leader of the group then fires a strange foam (with both cannons) at Honoo, and was hit by it, she didn't even know what it was. All she knew was that it stung a hell of a lot, and it was really REALLY cold.... Honoo dropped from the sky after that, with the other ones keeping tabs on the strange and hazardous winds. The leader of the quick squad was baffled by the speed (But WE'RE supposed to be fast ;_;), and couldn't get a hit in at all, even though she was invulnerable, and decided enough was enough and left the area in a hurry, before the spell card ran out and she was trapped in a windstorm from hell. The wind faeries were baffled by Aya's speed as well, but they made no effort to move away from Aya's attack, and were hardly hurt due to their training in the art of wind. The flying parts knocked a few up though The mecha actually seemed to be enjoying the flying parts, to everyone's surprise (but Honoo, who seems to be out again, she'll be back shortly if all this stuff gets off her via wind which is already happening) ((Genshuku: I'm BORED. I want something to dooooo.......Mima was a pain in the ass, but with Reimu's help (what a strange person) I managed to pull though. I was told the human village was a good place, might as well take a look...what's this?)) ((((Windfire Weapon: A bio-mechanical tank made by an unknown world. That world misplaced this thing, and it was promptly taken by an exploring fairy that liked to mess with teleporters. Then it was taken by the Mysterious Figure herself, and gave the fairy free reign of the teleporting station and a large sum of money, to buy things. Also, how do these faeries understand money? The influence of the mysterious figure actually boosts their brain-power somewhat. Did I mention she was an expert of mind manipulation?))))

Aya didn't notice anything happening because of her attack. When she was running this fast she couldn't really see anything. That was one of the many downsides of this spell card. The second major downside was that she couldn't keep it up for long. Fortunatly the attack was strong, so it didn't need to be active for very long to do some serious damage. Once she finally stopped the spell card she looked around and her jaw nearly dropped. In the short time her spell card was active so much had changed.
Aya was expecting all the fairies to be gone. Instead there were even more than before! How was that even possible? It looked like her attack was effective on some of the fairies, but there was a metal monstrosity in the middle that seemed to be immune. Well, this wasn't the first time she's delt with metal "ships," so she decided to handle it the same way she did the last one. She darted up to the machine and starting kicking it and would continue to kick it until it broke. No one threatens to kill Aya Shameimaru and leaves without some kind of stratch at least.
"Crossroad Sign 'Saruta Cross,'" she mumbled. Aya didn't actually expect the fairies to to just let her kick the crap out of their machine, so she cast a spell card to keep them away.
This spell card summoned a flury of bullets that almost completely surrounded her. There was only one small path in the center, the rest of the danmaku was more or less impenetrable. The bullets slowly moved away from her, but as they moved they lost their uniform shape. More paths were created, but they were at lot smaller and much harder to navigate. Aya honestly thought that the fairies wouldn't have the intellegence to navigate though that. It was a relatively weak attack, but it was just a distraction, so it didn't need to be strong.

The machine almost laughed at this girl, trying to hit it with her bare hands. It was built to kill, and was freshly polished. (Unlike that other ship, which was old and creaky.) It was about to give a 'warm' hello to Aya with a fiery blast when all the sudden, it blew the flame and it was redirected to the wind faeries, causing several to flee in panic (what the heck OH MY GOD FIRE) and the fire ones to look at the mess of danmaku Aya had created) and then the machine was pinned to the ground by a strange unknown force.
"Looks like I won't be bored for a while then~. Hey Aya, long time no see."
She assesses the situation: There's a bazillion faeries and the ones in green seem to be immune to the wind, while the ones in the blue seem to be immune to fire. There's also a fairy that looks knocked out on the ground, looks like a friendly. And of course, there was the monster she was using most of her effort to pin down. She knew the right course of action to take here, just have to get Aya to listen.
"Ok Aya, if you feel like listening to me, aim for the ones in the blue robes, I'll keep the big one down, and I'll get this little one to safety. Then she can take care of the ones in green."
She uses her power to move Honoo's knocked out self away from the fray, while all the other ones are distracted by the danmaku, trying to find Aya in there without getting hit, which proved to be hard to do. The ones with cannons were watching when the non-fairy leader said: "Just shoot the cloud all over, you'll get her.."
And they did, with their really really cold cannons.
The wind fairy leader saw Honoo just flying away, and gave chase.
