The sound of broken branches echoed across the landscape causing birds and other small creatures to scatter but the noise was only downed out by the sound of a loud thud. Silence filled the surrounding area but for the young human laying face down in the dirt the sound of him falling through trees still seemed to ring in his ear. For a long moment he didn’t move but before long the taste of dirt forced him to sit up. With a loud grown Lash held his head. He had a splitting headache. But that would have been normal for anyone who had fallen fifty feet into a tree and slamming into the ground floor.
Then with a panicked look Lash stood up as if he had been prodded with a hot iron. It was clear to see that he was no longer in a city or even civilization. Lash was stunned and wonder if he had hit his head slightly harder then he had thought. The last thing he remembered was walking down an ally and falling, and falling, and falling. Come to think of it he did feel it was oddly long. Lash ran his fingers through his hair and across his face trying to wonder what to do.
“Okay Lash everything is cool. This can all be explained.” he muttered aloud, “First things first let’s orient yourself. Now if the sun rises in the east and sets in the west north would be--” Lash looked up only to see the sun dead center in the sky, “something I could figure out in an hour! Screw it I’ll just go that way.”
Lash tried hard not to think of what really happened but he wasn’t so simple minded to think he simply hit his head. Nothing was adding up and he wanted nothing more but the answers to what had happened to him. Regardless of all that he knew the first thing to to was find the nearest town and get his bearings. That was the most important thing but as he swung his piece of rebar to clear a path it didn’t seem like he was making much progress.

karada,who was asleep in the tree lash had fallen through, awoke as the boy came within feet of knocking him out of the tree
he looked down at the boy who had ruined his nap and smiled
a human....time for a little fun
karada silently leaped down from the tree and followed the boy
his cat-like form easily stayed both silent and hidden..one of the perks of being a nekomata
only issue was he made the most cliche mistake...he stepped on a twig and it snapped

Lash shook his head trying to figure out if he was going in the right direction. It didn’t seem like he was making headway. Suddenly an idea came to him. Reaching down into his pocket he pulled out his cell phone and flipped it open. No single. With a heavy sigh he closed it and placed it back into his pocket. It was a long shot but there probably weren’t any radio towers near by to get a signal. Lash started to walk but stopped suddenly as he heard the snap of a branch. Noises in the forest were normal but even so Lash turned back and saw a cat.
“A cat? Wait a minuet. If this is someone’s pet then the cat couldn’t have traveled too far from it’s home which means I must be close to town! “ he said enthusiastically, “No I can get--hold on, one, two--two tails. Cats don’t have two tails.”
Lash didn’t know why the cat had two tails but knew it wasn’t a very good sign. For all he knew the area he was in was radioactive and the cat was some kind of mutant. Even he knew that w3as a stretch with the fact that nothing up until this point has made sense and the fact a two tailed cat was staring at him he thought his idea was valid.
“Okay Mr. Kitty shoo, get out of here. I don’t wanna get bit by some mutant cat and I know you don’t want me to club you with this piece of rebar. I‘d feel really bad if I had to kill someone’s pet so shoo.”

karada was insulted by what this boy had called him
he stood up on two legs and growled
"mutant...mr.kitty....PET!!"
he walked toward the boy
"boy...i am a nekomata...."
he smiled and shadows flickered around them
"an if you think that metal stick you have there is going to hurt me"
one of the shadows wrapped around his hand forming a whip
"who might want to check what world your in"

Lash nearly stumbled back in shock as he realized he was being talked to. Jaw dropped Lash’s mind went blank then suddenly a thousand thoughts converged at once in a maelstrom a chaos and confusion. Now he knew that he had gone bad but the trees certainly won’t talking and he didn’t feel all that insane at that moment. Shadows all around him began to flicker and the situation seemed to go from bad to worse in nearly a second.
“Yeah sure, let me just pull out my geography book and oh wait, I think I left that at home along with any sense of reality.” barked Lash, “but since I have clearly gone mad maybe you my furry little friend can tell me who you are, what you are, where I am, and the most important factor why I should care?”
Lash really wasn’t in the mood. His body ached, he was lost, and now a talking cat was arguing with him which could possible be a hallucination. Nevertheless Lash was game for knowing what was going on even if it was his own mind playing tricks on him.

unfortunatly people who somehow crossed the boarder had stages
1 disbelieve 2 paranoia 3 grandeur 4 blending
"my name is karada...and since im sure you dont know the nekomada are one of the greater races here"
he held out his hand to help the kid up
"show some respect or i might eat you"

Lash gave a blank look, “Right Gensokyo just like I thought.” he said sarcastically, “Should have paid more attention in geography class. So you’re a nekomada, something which I can guess has something to do with a cat, but that may be me just pulling at straws. “
Lash held back trying not to go off with someone saying that he should show some respect. What has this thing done to deserve his respect. If it had been anyone else he would have clubbed him one, but beating the crap out of this nekomada wouldn’t gain him anything so Lash said nothing more.
“Okay then Karada, I’m just gunna go that way,” he said pointing behind him, “Boy this is awkward. Never been good with goodbyes you see.” Lash began to turn around making a grim face.

Lash tapped his rebar against his head, “Can’t I just be the witty guy that everyone loves?” Lash said mockingly, “I know you don’t know this and I don’t want to hurt your feeling but--you’re an idiot.” he said bluntly.
Suddenly something in the back of his head told him that probably wasn’t the best thing to say with the weird cat thing that commanded shadows but it was in Lash’s nature. He argued and fought with nearly anyone who bugged him so it really wasn’t his fault. In any case he began to stare more at the shadows. They were probably not something to get caught in. For all he knew getting ensnared would result in a very bad situation. While Lash thought of his fighting skills as topped notch this was something other worldly.
“So you don’t want me to go away because? Usually cat monsters would want a person to leave if they had stumbled in its domain--then again I know nothing about nekomatas because last time I checked it wasn’t taught in Health class but I never really paid attention so maybe I’m wrong. Class was really boring.” he rambled.

karada had enough with this human
"food it is then"
he swung his whip back and then shot it forward
a man with four fox-like tails dropped down infront of karada and caught the whip around his staff
with a sweep from the other side of his staff he knocked karada off his feet
"are you okay kid"
he looked at lash

Lash was somewhat ready when Karada suddenly attacked. Part of Lash hoped that he really wasn’t going to attack and simply walk away from the annoying human, but he also knew his mouth had a way of getting him into these types of situations. Though the shadows coming at him were quite alarming but just as he was about to dive out of the way another strange creature appeared. This one, however, seemed to help him.
“I’m dandy now.” lash said slightly stunned, “It’s not everyday someone comes out to help me. Usually it’s someone coming to help the person I’m fighting so this is a real change of pace!”
Looking down at the fallen Karada he couldn’t stop himself from giving off a cocky grin that gave the look should have just let me leave. Still, Lash held his tongue. This other creature could be deeply offended by anything he said and for all he knew the two could suddenly attack him. That would have been a very troubling situatio0n. Lash doubt he could take one let alone two nekomata.

karada stood up and looked at the kitsune
"you shouldn't have intervened drevin.....this kid is more trouble then he's worth"
drevin looked at lash and the karada
"maybe....but im not interested in making people miserable...so go run off and hide"
karada hissed for a moment then turned around
"need to get back to my nap"
he walked off
drevin looked at lash
"put the stick away...im not going to hurt you kid"
he smiled and held out his hand
"my name is drevin"

Lash watched as Karada scamper off to take his nap. After napping maybe he wouldn’t be so cranky or that’s what Lash liked to believe. Now he was with a much nicer creature or one that did a good job at hiding his true intensions. Either way it gave Lash some time to think. Twirling around his “stick” Lash sheathed it and shook Drevin’s hand heartily. It was clear he’d have to be careful what he said from now on, something that could prove much harder then he thought.
“Nice to meet you, I think. You’re not gunna eat me because let me just tell you I taste really bad.” he said jokingly, “Well that was really cool that you helped me out but you wanna maybe tell me where I am. The other guy wasn’t very helpful and well, wanted to eat me so you can understand how confused I am.”
It seemed a better time then ever to ask where he was. Gensokyo wasn’t a word that Lash knew but had a good idea he wasn’t in his home city. Though there was a nagging sensation and as much as he tried to push it into the back of his head he it kept coming back. This was not earth.

Lash ran his hand down is face in frustration. Even the strange person in front of him had no idea where they were. Now there were two people lost. Even so it seemed Drevin totally missed what Lash had said. Youkai Mountain? Now he was even more confused and knew for a fact there wasn’t any such mountain with that type of maintain near where he lived. With a heavy sigh Lash looked up at Drevin.
“Okay so where is Youkai Mountain? What is this place? If you haven’t guessed it out of the two of us I have to be the one more lost. This whole me falling from the sky thing has jkinda threw me though a loop”
