Reimu lifted a cup to her lips, slowly drinking the tea to make sure that she didn't burn her throat. These were the kinds of days she could really get into - nothing to disturb her...
Of course, Marisa did stop by the shrine daily, so she knew it wouldn't last too much longer. But even then, she didn't always make that much of a ruckus, and they often enjoyed the day together, relaxing... whenever one of her other 'aqquaintences' didn't stop by as well, that was.
She gazed out over the land that she was charged to protect - that she had been born to protect. As troublesome as it was... at least she had days like this. Where everything seemed right in the world.
...Why did those days never have a chance to last?

Kenare sighed. It had been a busy, busy day. And it wasn't getting any less busy, that was for sure.
She eyed the grasses growing around the Hakurei Shrine. Eirin had sent her to pick some, the ones that were "greener than most but not as green as emerald."
The only problem was that she knew the resident shrine maiden did not like youkai. But she had what she thought was a clever solution to that. She had put on a cloak, hiding her rabbit ears completely.
She walked up to the shrine door.
"Hello?" she said faintly.

Percival walked, as well as wrote. Gensokyo was simply fascinating, so much knowledge about! Really, coming down here was quite simply a most excellent decision. A building was coming up, he saw. A shrine, of some sort. "Oh? I was in the area of that woman's shrine... Reimu, I believe it was. Perhaps that is it." Percival muttered, writing down some landmarks within his journal as he moved towards the building. He made god progress, and eventually arrived, though it seems behind one of the... erm... Youkai, he believed they called themselves. "...Fascinating" Percival muttered, looking at the architecture of the shrine.
He saw Kenare knock on the door, and carefully moved forward, and behind her, not announcing his presence. I wonder what this... Reimu is like. Most interesting, I would gather. Percival mused, before continuing to write. Now, all he and the other visitor would have to do is wait for the resident Shrine Maiden to answer the door.

The miko sighed, putting down her cup. Right on cue as usual... She headed around the side of the shrine (she had been on an outside part) and saw the two people standing outside her door.
After a few moments of waiting there, hoping she'd make a donation, she gave up and walked over to the hooded figure. "Hello? Can I help you?" She asked. The hood was an automatic sign of a possible enemy, so she kept one hand in her sleeve, ready to pull out some ofuda. The other character seemed somewhat suspicious as well, with that notebook of his, so she didn't let her guard down.
"Did you come to give a prayer at the shrine?" Reimu asked. "The offering box is that way, you know." She told them, pointing to it with her other hand.

Kenare had no idea Percival was there. She thought she was alone with the shrine maiden.
"Well," she said, "what I'd rather do is enjoy the air surrounding this--"
Sounded too suspicious. Kenare had no idea what Reimu thought of Kaguya and Eirin, so she decided not to risk telling her that. She didn't want to lie, but she didn't want to tell the whole truth either.
"This is a very beautiful place," she said. "Mind if I explore your garden? It's lovely."
Now all she could do was hope.

"Hello madam, Reimu, I heard your name was?" Percival stated, his voice smooth. He continued to write, even as he spoke. "I was within the region, and spotted your shrine. I suppose I would like to call myself a compiler of knowledge, and was wondering if you could give me some of the story surrounding this building, as well as any knowledge you have the surrounding territory" Percival continued, before he stopped speaking. Hmm, I do hope she doesn't find that to be within hostile grounds. Percival mused, his gaze focused on Reimu, though he merely appeared to have switched attention back to his journal, or perhaps notebook would be more appropriate.
"If you feel yourself threatened, I would be more than willing to surrender the weapon that I carry" Percival added, though he made it sound to be an after thought. Really now, he just had to get information on this place. It was so fascinating.

Hm... Reimu thought for a moment. "Please place the weapon at the side of the shrine." She told him. "While you're at it, a saisen would be preferable. I'll tell you more about this shrine after I'm done with her, so please be patient."
The shrine maiden looked back to Kenare. "I think it's fine if you just stay outside, but make sure to avoid the poisonous grasses, and leave a small donation to the gods before you go."

Kenare felt a bit bad about being a little deceit, as the "poisonous grasses" were probably what Eirin wanted, as Eirin liked to experiment with strange plants, most of which likely were poisonous, but she had to do her job.
"Could you show me where the poisonous ones are?" she asked. "I want to be sure so I know what to avoid."
She really had no interest in what the other person was up to, as he seemed to be harmless. He was even willing to surrender his weapon.

Percival carefully took out his lance, before propping it against the wall of the shrine. "I hope that spot is alright, Madam." Percival stated, before moving to the side. "I am perfectly fine with waiting until you're finished speaking with the other here." He spoke, before giving a small bow. "With all due respect, might I accompany you? The plants would be an excellent to note down.. although if you feel that answering questions about them would be a bit too aggravating, I would be fine waiting here for your return." Percival added.
He turned his attention back to his notebook, beginning his writing once more. Gensokyo is such a fascinating area. Really, I find this place most enjoyable. I do wonder about that person I heard about, Kaosu. I suppose I'll ask Madam Reimu about it after we've had our talk. Percival mused.

"If you feel like it, that is fine." Reimu said. Hm. These guests were surprisingly well behaved compared to her usual crowd. "Follow me." She headed toward the garden, before pointing to point out a patch of grass that was unusually green.
"Those are the poisonous grasses. I don't know too much about their effects, though I do know that you should not be touching them unless you feel like dying." She told them. "They aren't like weeds, though, and so they don't spread all over the shrine, just stay in those places."

"Thank you," Kenare said. Now she knew what Eirin wanted, and she also knew what safety precautions she should take. Touching them with bare hands was obviously not an option. Luckily, Kenare had prepared for that, as once again Eirin usually prized the poisonous stuff. But first she had to wait until Reimu's back was turned.
She didn't ask Reimu to go in. She merely sat on a bench and waited for her to leave.

Percival carefully knelt down near to the grass, and noted down qualities that he observed of them. "Hmm, interesting..." He muttered, before carefully picking out some blades using his gloved hand. "So, potent enough poison that it induces death upon contact..." His voice faded slight, as he looked at the grass for a moment. He pressed it into the page where he'd noted down those properties of that he knew. Taking out a small bottle from a pouch, he uncapped it, before pouring a clear liquid (glue) onto the leaf, covering it as well as sticking it to the page. He blew gently on the glue, attempting to hasten the drying process, before turning his attention back to the bottle. Recapping it, he stored it back in his belt, then grabbed his notebook and quill.
He then stood, and turned to face Reimu. "Thank you for this opportunity, this grass is rather interesting. Now then, would it be quite alright for us to return to your domicile in order to speak of the shrine?" Percival queried, though his hand was busy at work, still writing down. Hmm, plants carry toxins like that for a reason, most likely it's used to keep predators away... hmmm... Percival mused.

Reimu nodded. "I can't risk the toxin getting into my house, though..." She said, glancing nervously at the gloved hand. "There's a reason why I'm the only one who lives here... that grass is part of it."

With the shrine maiden looking at the other person, who had just done something very strange, Kenare saw her chance.
Making sure Reimu wasn't watching, she slipped on a couple of gloves and proceeded to load a small bowl which was hidden in an inside pocket of her cloak with the poisonous grasses. Then she hid the bowl again, and as much of her hands as she could, seeing as they were still gloved due to the fact that Kenare didn't want to risk accidentally touching the deadly grasses with her bare hands.
She turned back in the direction of Reimu, watching her and waiting for a cue to go back to Eientei. And leave some money behind for the shrine. It was only right, after all.

Percival nodded, then replied. "Of course Madam, is there any place I might be able to wash my gloves and hands? Oh, and my quill of course, can't forget that." Percival queried, before he turned to the other visitor. "It's somewhat rude to take up Madam Reimu's time like this for but a few moments staring at some poisonous grass, perhaps you ought to join us" Percival stated.
"Now then, I will be happy to wash those things that require it. Merely point me in the correct direction, then. Although, I do somewhat apologize for making you nervous, as well as wasting your time while I wash my possessions" said Percival.
