Carmellia watched for a moment as Katrina dealt with the young man from earlier. She still didn't fully understand what had happened but she knew she had promised to fix the house and she went back to do just that. There was a piece near where she was and she picked it up, then she flew over to the house to see if she could figure out where it went. Perhaps she would remember more of the last hour as she worked.

Katrina stayed by Hikaru and kept healing him so he wouldn't die. She was beginning to like him.

Hikaru turned arround and said "I'm really sorry... However I really need to know what Kanda is up to... He is the most interesting being I ever met in my life."
Hikaru alwasy dreamed of meeting an Agyel since he was a little boy. His father would tell him all these great stories about the Sky continents and Agyels, Hikaru wanted to know more. Yumi looked very troubled, she thought, He's really stubborn... She hoped Katrina would keep Hikaru from going to the Scarlet Devil Mansion. So Yumi won't have to step in and save his life.

The rebuilding went quite smoothly as Carmellia discovered she somehow had an idea of where each piece went and they fitted together nicely. However, when all she had left was the center portion of the roof her idea suddenly disappeared. She sat down on the edge of the roof, crossed her arms and began searching her memory for anything she had missed.
She hadn't missed anything. Somehow her 'idea' simply cut off at that point and in her frustration she slammed her fist down beside her, managing only to dislodge the part of the roof she was sitting on. After flying to avoid falling with the section, she descended to pick it up and replace it, grumbling all the way.
She would finish the house. All the problems in the world wouldn't stop her.

"Hikaru," Katrina said, "if we're going to go to Scarlet Devil Mansion you have to be in good condition. You can't go out when you're...well...melting..."
She was worried. She wanted to wander but she didn't want Hikaru to die. What she needed to do was protect him and Carmellia.
Katrina looked over at the youkai girl and saw she was rebuilding the house.
No!
"Carmellia!" she cried. " The windmill's cursed! We have to get out of here!"

Hikaru said as he was still getting healed "A mansion? There's a mansion in the middle of the lake?"
Hikaru thought, Hmmm... I want to check this out... While Katrina was distracted with Carmillia. Hikaru slipped away and spread wings behind his back. He then flew toward the direction Kanda was going to. Yumi saw Hikaru fly away. Yumi quick ran after him as fast as her legs could take her. She trailed behind Hikaru as Hikaru searched for Kanda.

Carmellia had gone down into the house for another piece when she heard Katrina shouting something about a 'curse'. Then she remembered that the windmill girl had been babbling something about a curse earlier as well. Before she could think any further she was startled by a loud crack somewhere above her and she looked up just in time for a large piece of the roof to land on her face, breaking her nose and some of her teeth.
It wasn't enough to knock her out, though, and the impact brought back one final memory. Before she'd started rebuilding the wretched shack she'd been trying to destroy it for reasons connected to this 'curse'. Well, time to finish that job.
Once again she rose into the air but this time she didn't bother with a big shot and began firing her normal magic blasts as quickly as she could, vaporizing the windmill one chunk at a time.

When Katrina noticed that Carmellia was trying to destroy the windmill again, she gasped.
"I don't think that will help...we need to try and save Hikaru!"
Then she noticed Hikaru had left.
"Hikaru!" she called. "Come back!"

Hikaru heard his name being called. It turned out to be Katrina. He called back "I will be back, I promise! Katrina!"
Hikaru then turned arround and flew toward where he sensed Kanda's presense.

Carmellia continued to knock holes in what was left of the house, feeling better and better as she did so. She was so engrossed that she failed to notice the blue projectile streaking towards her from the other side of the village. It barreled right through her shot and struck her full in the forehead, knocking her out and throwing her quite a distance.

Keine straightened herself and sighed as she put her hair in order before replacing her signature hat. She hadn't expected Carmellia to make another disturbance again so quickly and the new outburst had been the last straw. Hopefully the headbutt would keep the troublemaker quiet until evening.
As she turned to leave she spotted the windmill girl standing nearby. Judging that the girl was a friend of the Youkai's Keine bowed in the air and apologized for her actions before flying back towards the schoolhouse. She was really behind in her lesson especially since her students had gotten distracted by the danmaku, and she would have to rush a bit to make up for it.

"I don't know what to do..." Katrina said in Carmellia's direction. "Hikaru left, and I think he's in danger..."
She didn't care what happened to the house anymore. Her friend was in danger.
"You have to help me!" Katrina said. "We have to save him!"
Then she noticed the youkai was not answering. And when she could no longer see the girl's figure, she ran to that spot.
"Carmellia!"
She was knocked out.
As quickly as she could, Katrina gave Carmellia her healing touch. Hopefully she would awaken.

Carmellia did awaken and she was a bit dizzy. Still, she remembered being knocked out by something that she couldn't see and she began to think that Katrina might have had a point about the curse. She groggily sat up and spoke. "You know... maybe there was something wrong with that windmill after all. Maybe I should leave it alone and let it forget about me or something..."

Katrina sighed with relief.
"Carmellia, look, Hikaru...flew off. We have to find him before he gets hurt!"
He'd promised he would come back, but she was unsure. That's what they all said, and the next thing they knew, they were...well...killed.
"Come on, Carmellia. We're going to the Scarlet Devil Mansion."

When she heard 'Scarlet Devil Mansion' Carmellia suddenly became a lot less dizzy. Was the windmill girl insane? She turned and gave Katrina a strange look. "Now see here. If you want to kill yourself so quickly then go ahead. Go chase your beloved wing-boy into the fangs of the Scarlet Devils if you want to but keep me out of this madness! I'd rather stay here and deal with the curse."
She got up and flew back to the windmill. Humans were definitely getting crazier with each passing year. Must be the air in Gensokyo...

Well, it was to Katrina's advantage that she knew (a little bit) how Carmellia's mind worked.
"I'll tell you what," she said. "If you go with me to the Scarlet Devil Mansion, I'll buy you some...expensive jewelry. But only after we've rescued Hikaru."
